Even Teddy Kennedy is saying he was a good guy to work with on universal health care bill in Massachusetts. Look out Frist, McCain, et al, Mitt's a-comin', and he's trying to look like he can cross the aisle on important issues!

(This is by no means an endorsement of Mitt--I find him quite scary--but I think this health care deal just leapfrogged him to the head of the GOP pack).

Talk about a guy who flip flops. When he ran for governor of MA he was solidly committed to a woman's right to choose. Now that he is considering a run for president and needs the rightie base he is staunchly anti-abortion. I guess he is only for it (or against it) to save the life of the candidate.

Great line about saving the life of the candidate.

My thought is it is a Massachussetts thing--he was for it before he was against it.

bettyd -- if what you say is true about Romney, then it's the reverse of what Clinton, Gore and Gephardt went through for national aspirations.

Anybody who can build consensus in a state like MA to pull off near universal healhcare w/ everybody pulling part of the load has gotta have something going on.

Never a fan but this would look pretty good on a national resume.

I distinctly recall Kennedy and Bush nearly kissing each others ***es when Bush came up to Boston on the day he signed No Child Left Behind a few years ago. I could have vomited from the stench of feigned friendship.
