this sounds more like a case of a couple of morons feeling a little full of themselves rather than a republican effort to create a fascistic state.

not that i dont think the republicans arent trying to do it, just not in this case.

I agree with Libertarian (!) This sounds like more like the work of a couple of garden variety a-holes.

I got your back themp. Homeland security is too new to have hired people who have ethics and have a strong sense of organization. FBI agents would have moved, police would never have parked there and if they did they would not have harrassed that guy.

Maybe its not republicans per se but rather this f'ed up and totally screwed administration. Everything, and I mean everything, they have done has turned to shite.

If a pair of goons park in a bus loading zone, refuse to move when asked to do so, and claim they are from Homeland Security, surely the correct action is to call the township police.

For all anyone could tell, they could have been perverts on the lookout for children.

Unless these goons are subject to some kind of disciplinary action, we're going to see more and more of it. The fish rots from the head, after all, and if the Preznit can cut corners in the name of fighting terrorism we shouldn't be surprised if the underlings take the same approach.

Brings to mind the incident, much discussed here, of a couple of people thrown out of an upstate shopping mall for wearing anti-war T-shirts. The cons were all in favor of it, though I still doubt they'd be so supportive if pro-war protesters were thrown out of a store in Cambridge.

There is no shortage of people like this, by the way. If fascism ever comes to the U.S., "wrapped in the American flag" as Huey Long predicted, there will be plenty of yes-men and uneducated goons to enforce it.

CJC-

Remember, our fellow posters are the same people that negatively summed up the entire US military over the actions of 7 jerks at Abu Ghraib.

Do you really expect them to understand this incident for what it is? Simply: a**holes being, well, a**holes?

Don't hold your breath.....

I see how this works:

34 year old teacher boffs a 13 year old 28 times in one week. And this isn't the first time we've had instances like this in public schools. That's the teachers union for you. This is why we need school choice.

A stunningly irrelevant response. Kind of like your hero's invasion of Iraq.

...34 year old teacher is arrested and loses his job and reputation. So it rightly goes for people who abuse their position of authority. By the way, there's no reason why this same teacher couldn't have and wouldn't have done the same thing in a parochial or private school.

Come to think of it, what about all the child abuse going on in Catholic institutions all these years! Your lashing out at public schools is just another ideologically driven outburst that has little to do with any concern you may or may not have about abused children.

Still waiting on word of what happened to the homeland security guys.

As irrelevant as the effort behind this thread, Monty, and using the same operating procedure.
