This will be Garrett's third election. While he pulled in more votes in 2004 than in 2002, so did his opponent. In fact, his opponent in 2004, Anne Wolfe, also received more votes than any Democrat since redistricting. The 122,259 votes Ms. Wolfe garnered are actually enough to have defeated Mr. Garrett in 2002, when he received only 118,881 (to be fair, off year elections - like this year's - are usually characterized with lower voter turnout). This indicates that there is a numerical possibility of knocking off Garrett - a possibility that is increased by the fact that Garrett won with a smaller percentage of the vote in 2004 than in 2002.
