LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Exit polls in Italy's general elections Monday afternoon pointed to a victory for Romano Prodi, the leader of the center-left coalition, over Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
According to a second exit poll, Prodi's coalition took 50% to 54% of the votes in the lower house, while Berlusconi's alliance took 45% to 49%. Prodi's coalition also is seen winning the Senate, according to both exit polls as well an early projection made on actual votes.

We all know how accurate exit polls can be when they go against the incumbent.
