The Secretary of Energy is disbanding its 30-year old advisory committee, a committee comprised of scientists (including several Nobel prize winners), business leaders and academics.

Quote:

Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman "believes that we have a strong agenda moving forward with the American Competitiveness and Advanced Energy Initiatives put forth by the White House," Stevens says. "With these two initiatives, the secretary believes our course is charted for the next couple of years."

Well, if they come from the White House, then they must be brilliant! As we all know, Bush is "the greatest scientist that ever walked the earth...a historian...and linguist, who knows everything about science and art." If "the greatest leader of all times and all nations" has a plan, it is sure to be a success!

Dr. Lysenko, your Medal of Freedom is waiting.

I don't know, I have this silly idea that it's a good way to understand how the world works.

Tom, there are obviously people so ingrained in their own research that they cannot see the implications of their decisions/recommendations. We need people with more perpective, who can look beyond the hard science, to the religious implications, if we want to move forward as a nation. Since it would be tough to justify putting religious leaders on a science committee (though not impossible), it was better to disband it.

and replacing it with prayer time?

Rastro, you have a point. Scientists have this way of gathering data and then coming to conclusions. That obviously doesn't work for Bush and his people, it needs to be the other way around.

Why would a future farm worker need to study poetry, or European history? When do you decide someone's going to be a farm worker?

We need leaders who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, in the existence of Americans as God's chosen people, and in the inevitability of end times and their rapid approach.

It would also help if those leaders can reveal to us the identity of the Anti-Christ (which most scientists have a hard time doing because they can't recognize Frenchmen) so that we can arm ourselves for the final battles (which will NOT be fought by those six retired wimp generals who whine and complain about Donald Rumsfeld, the Sun-Tsu of our modern age) with the forces of evil which represent anti-Republican/anti-fundamentalist values.

---thats right- someone has to find those truffles for Barbara Bush. And Rummy could teach Sun Tzu a thing or 2 or 3. Any true Hegemon can put Sun Tzu to shame. I mean, what does "On dangerous ground, manuever" really mean when you have nukes?

Prepare true believers, to be brought into heaven, while the non believers will be cut into ribbons by his terrible swift sword.
