Put the PR aside.... Whats up. What do the conservatives in Congress and the WH plan for the country.

SO far, they have made Government bigger.

Spent way too much money.

Tilted the Fed income tax system way to far in the regressive direction.

Iraq: Should I stay or should I go?

Will Lobbyists write more legislation?

If thats the Plan, its a joke. That can't be the Plan, right?

Bottom line: It is hard to see how the GOP is not like the Titanic, except it is aiming for the iceberg.

Leaving that aside, what's the plan? As you guys are fond of saying about Dems, it's not enough to be simply contrarian, you have to have a message.

As has often been said, Bush's plan for the country is to leave the situation he created in the hands of the next president.

Tom-

In case you haven't been paying attention, the message has been in front of your face for 6 years. Just because you don't agree with it is not mine nor the country's problem.

I agree on the money spending/bigger govt gripes though...I don't like it either. But if you think the Dems are going to succeed playing this childish game then the crack in Maplewood must be potent.

I think Shrinks call this projection...

-SLK

It simply amazes me that the Dems have yet to figure out this is NOT how you win elections. When a Dem realizes this I will vote for him/her but it doesn't look too promising....

SLK...switch to decaf bro.
It's a legit question. Does FOJ have an agenda, DOH. But it is a legit question to ask. What is the current administration going to do GOING FORWARD. While, hopefully, somewhere, someone with a blow torch is fixing the USS Democrat. Or building the USS LEGITIMATE THIRD PARTY

Steal from the poor, give to the rich? The only thing we have to use is fear itself? The "message" is, "be afraid, be very afraid." You should be proud.

Meanwhile, how's tearing down Social Security coming along? How's shrinking the government going? How about that gay marriage thing, or is that only for election season? Still waiting for that flag-burning amendment, and the one banning abortion, too.

Still waiting to be united, not divided; and for that whole "humble" foreign policy thing. Oh wait, people from Afghanistan attacked us on 9/11, so now we get to give europeans the finger.

I'm not running for anything, so I feel free to point out the hypocrisy and general foolishness of Republican policies.

Incidently, the Social Security Trustees (and the Medicare and Medicaid Trustees) annual report was due out several weeks ago. It's been delayed. Something about a fight between the White House and senators over nominations to the board, last I heard.

Which means that anything we know about the state of Soc Sec (and Medicare/Medicaid) is one year-plus out of date.

Tom-

Do you even think that over simplistic, ignorant rant deserves comment? A fair minded Dem would admit the same but hey seem to be a rarity on these boards...

God, you liberal Dems are clueless and angry...a dangerous combination...

SLK,

I am tempted to say that you love having the wool pulled over your eyes.

There's no other explanation for your views than that you love GWB's ability to deceive you and tell you what he thinks you want to hear, while there is no record of accomplishment of positive things he can point to.

I will give you this, however. GWB can point to a lot of negative things he has done for the country. We don't need to list them because the list is available every day. All you need to do is pick up a newspaper, turn on a TV, or scan the internet.

And use your brain.

SLK:

Good. Thanks for your admission of brain stillness. That was mighty big of you, but it's good as a first step in a better direction for you.

Later on, when you've recovered from the shock of having been scammed by the current administration, we'll slowly take you through the details of how the Bush team has set this country back about 60 years.

Both parties are lucky that they're not running against a party that's competent. The only losers are the voters.

tom accurately makes the distinction between republicans and what they have wrought versus the title of this thread which focuses on a conservative plan for the country. It's conservatives that wanted off-sets in spending for Katrina relief. It's conservatives who want a secure border without which no illegal immigration reform can work be it lax or strict regarding those already in this country. It's conservatives who bitch and moan every time the government gets bigger in it's reach and budget. And it's conservatives who have honestly addressed the impending doom the entitlement state here in the US faces with good reform ideas on Social Security and healthcare.

Bush I believe is a conservative, but not one who will use a veto pen. If more conservative legislation crossed Bush's desk, he'd have signed it.

It is both strange and hilarious. Democrats were all too willing to make put the country in debt to make investments that would pay off later, while Republicans called for a balanced budget amendment. Now Republicans have learned that there doesn't need to be a return on investment. You can just squander money.

And it's that difference that got the Democrats to preach.

CJC, out of the issues you named, I might say a balanced budget,is mainstream. Or more so than the Parties would make it seem sometimes. Certainly most of us, & in the U.S. want a balanced budget. I might add, without help from the Social Security fund.
