White House shakeup touches McClellan, Rove

A shakeup in President Bush's administration widened today as press secretary Scott McClellan announced his resignation and a senior administration official said longtime Bush confidant Karl Rove will no longer oversee policy. McClellan's exit comes shortly after the departure of Bush chief of staff Andrew Card and amid calls for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

SLK should change his name to The Defender SLK..

suits him better.

(fewer and fewer defenders these days, Bush needs all he can keep).

I feel kind of sorry for Scotty. The White House sent him out to take the heat much to often. In some cases he either lied, which I kind of doubt, or was lied to.

Rove's reassignment is interesting. Does this mean that he is likely to be indicted shortly and the President wants to put some distance between him self and the spinmeister in chief?

Rumor has it that Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, Former Iraqi Minister of Information, will be taking over McClellan's role. According to a White House insider, what is now needed is a more seasoned press secretary.

Great, Bagdad Bob (or Comical Ali as he is sometimes called) really rocks. Bush will be back up to a 40% approval rating quickly if that appointment goes through.

I have zero sympathy for Scott McClellan. If he had any ethical or moral fortitude he would have resigned long ago after he was told to lie, or lied to. Instead he stayed doing the masters dirty work, lying and misleading us all day after day.

As a person my opinion is he is slime.

- and SLK it has nothing to do with party. It has to do with reality.

I always felt kind of sorry for McClellan. He was so clearly out of his depth. He always had the look of a nervous 8th grader giving an oral report.

Great line out of the White House to explain the shifting of Karl Rove's duties:

"With all his new duties since the election, Karl was stretched too thin."

Too thin? Too thin?

Have you seen pictures of that Pillsbury Doughboy?

He couldn't be stretched too thin if he fasted for a full 12 months.

More administration rhetoric. But this time quite amusing.

So Rove is going to be in charge of political strategy for a president who can't run for reelection.

Then he should get off the White House (and public) payroll.

Absolutely. Ensuring continued Republican domination of the legislative branch is something Republicans are entitled to pursue, however not with my tax dollars.

Random thought: I wonder if the fact Scott;s mother is running for Governor in Texas as an independent had anything to do with his departure?
