It looks like all the precincts have reported. Can someone win the race with a plurailty or is a runoff needed? Nagin has 38pct. and Landau 29pct.

To answer my own question, there will be a runoff.

Couldn't they come up with a better term than "runoff" for a flood-stricken area?

Nagin WIll lose, at least 45% to 55%, maybe worse.
There were 17k absentee ballots with 400k dislocated people. DO the math, a lot of NOLA folk didnt vote.

Like I said Nagin will lose. NOLA was 80% Black, Now its 60% white. If you count, who had their votes actually counted.

But the question is, does he deserve to win?

When Nagin was intially elected he had the support of the New Orleans business community, presumably because of his background as a Cox executive.

This time the business support went to the guy who came in third. Landraux (sp?) isn't popular with the business community because of his record in the Legislature.

The conventional wisdom is that Landraux will win if he picks up 2/3rds of the votes cast for other candidates. However, it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
