Today, the Decider-in-Chief announced that the F.T.C. was going to investigate price gouging. I will be SHOCKED! SHOCKED! if any examples of price gouging are found. I will be really shocked if any penalties of substance are imposed on any perpetrators that might be found. |

Didnt he also call for an Energy plan? Didn't he just sign one that came out of congress? SOoo the Repubs pass an energy bill, and big oil then sees record profits, we see record gas prices, big oil executives see big assed 300-500 million $$$ bonuses. And we still have the $75k write off for luxury SUVs. Didn't Carter say we needed to have the Moral equivalent of war -- to address energy problems. 36-37 years ago. |

Foj. Yes Carter said that and began working towards that end. Reagan then dismanteled all such efforts. We were then back to the starting block. |

You guys should run a ticket of Gore/Carter. That would ensure a victory. |

I don't know Hoops. I have been avoiding purchasing gas to show big oil I am not beholden to them. I actually back up words with action. However, as I drove my solar powered Hummer past the station I think I saw it at $1.57. Remember, Bush and his oil cronies are only jacking up the prices in blue states. Us red states are fine. Since the mainstream media stopped coming to our area after their beloved Kerry lost they haven't even reported the disparity. It's actually kind of nice. |

@ southerner I think the solar power use has distorted your brain. I did a look-up too and found gas prices to be high in those blue states! |

Jersey may be blue but we typically have some of the lowest gas prices in the country. Low gas taxes. That and they tax the parkway instead. Not to play devil's advocate, but perhaps red states would have lower gas prices because they are closer to petroleum sources and likely to have lower gas taxes. (This is conjecture, but I imagine people in rural areas would consume more gas because they drive longer distances.) |
