Too bad. I met Landrieu recently. Seems like a straight shooter. Nagin as we know is a putz, so not sure what the people of NO are thinking here. I guess it's a black vs white thing.

"Nagin won with 52.3 percent, or 59,460 votes, to Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu's 47.7 percent, or 54,131 votes. While the vote was split largely along racial lines, Nagin got enough of a crossover in predominantly white districts to make the difference."

Landrieu isn't well liked or respected in the business community because of his record in the state legislature. While nobody thinks Nagin is a great emergency manager, I think he is viewed as more pro business than Landrieu. In the end people tend to vote their pocketbooks. |

So an incompetent Mayor gets voted back in? Did he pull a Marion Barry? Did anyone check to see if the local crack addicts are all the sudden registered voters? -SLK |

As I recall, it was the business community that put Nagin into office in the first place, though with a large pool of candidates in the general compared to the norm. I don't think New Orleans is/was over 50% black. If that's the case, then a lot of stupid non-black people voted for him this time if there were only 2 candidates. This vote doesn't auger well for the rest of the country happily and eagerly pushing to float more money down there. |

FOJ- That wasn't my question. Yoy are becoming obsessive over your Bush hatred. Seriously get some help. Nagin let NO down and tried to blames those above him and he still gets voted back in. At least Barry's re-election had some drama involved. Pathetic. -SLK |

Since all any of us know about Mayor Nagin, is from television reports and various soundbites - I think it is really silly to opine about him here, a long way from the city where he, and the people who elected him, call home. |

Nohero, "Since all any of us know about Mayor Nagin, is from television reports and various soundbites" Funny, you know Dubya the same way, right? Or do you have dinner with him once a month to discuss various social/world issues? You sure have no problem judging him... Good night! -SLK

Well, that's really a silly comment, isn't it? Anybody knows that we know more about the President, because his actions have affected us directly, and the press has been covering his Administration for what, five-plus years? That comment doesn't even merit a "nice try" response. |
