The Republicans, rightfully so, are treating Bush like he has the plague. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/politics/14621425.htm VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - President Bush attended a $5,000-a-plate fundraiser on Friday for Rep. Thelma Drake, who is facing a tight race in November's midterm elections. But the congresswoman stayed in Washington to vote on a military appropriations bill. "Given a choice between attending a fundraiser and doing her job in support of the military she has to go with the military every time," said Tim Murtaugh, Drake's campaign manager. But get this... http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=66135 WASHINGTON, May 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- AMVETS National Commander Edward W. Kemp today praised House lawmakers for their passage of a $136.1 billion appropriations bill that funds veterans' and military construction programs. The final vote was 395-0, with the measure now going to the Senate for final action. The final vote was a unanimous 395-0. Good thing Rep. Drake didn't miss that one!

Sounds a little like Tom Kean the Younger getting stuck in traffic to avoid being seen with Cheney. |

In fairness to Drake, if she didn't attend the vote, her opponent would say over and over, "She skipped out on a vote for funding our men and women in uniform in order to attend a fundraiser with President Bush." |

Tom- It is RL, he doesn't deserve a respectful response with his same old boring anti-bush attacks. Ok, we get it....he doesn't like him... And that has got to be Drake's reason for skipping the vote, what else could it possibly be...? Maybe we can blame it on global warming? -SLK |

"I guess you are right RL...we should listen to you from now on..." What does that even mean? It's not like I posted some directive, or even an opinion. That doesn't even make sense...but typical of you. |
