Yes, it's all self-promotion, and I'm not sure why he would want to remind us that he was mayor of Paterson for most of the 90's, but here you go (sorry I can't preserve the links):

Dear Notehead:

The past few weeks have been very busy in Washington . As students begin to get summer jitters before the end of school, and baseball season continues, I would like to update you the work I have been doing on behalf of the Eighth Congressional District of New Jersey.

PROTECTING OUR HOMELAND

As a senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I have been intimately involved in a variety of important proposals working their way through the legislative process.

PORT SECURITY

First, following the commotion this spring over the proposed port takeover by a Dubai company, the Homeland Security Committee reported, and the full House overwhelmingly passed H.R. 4954 , the "Security and Accountability For Every (SAFE) Port Act." This legislation directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop a comprehensive security plan for our nation's ports. The bill included three amendments which I authored, or co-authored, including one requiring that port Facility Security Officers (FSO) are United States citizens. (For more information regarding these provisions, please click here ).

REFORMING FEMA

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it became apparent that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was woefully mismanaged and disorganized. While a debate has raged on Capitol Hill whether to remove FEMA from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or not, I introduced legislation ( H.R. 5351 ) to preserve and strengthen FEMA's role within DHS. As Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Science and Technology, I joined Committee Chairman Peter King (NY) to introduce this important legislation to equip FEMA with the resources they need to respond to the next national disaster. (To learn more about reorganizing FEMA, click here )

VIGOROUS OVERSIGHT

As we have worked to strengthen DHS, we have also worked to provide vigorous oversight when they go astray. When the irregularities surrounding the Shirlington Limousine contract came to light this spring, I joined full Committee Ranking Member Bennie Thompson to write a letter Inspector General Skinner calling for a full investigation and to report those details back to the Committee. I am seriously concerned about revelations that this company, despite its unsatisfactory past performance and its apparent lack of resources, was able to obtain a $21 million contract with the Department. At a Subcommittee oversight hearing, I reiterated my concerns with the Department's practices, and renewed my call for a full investigation. (For more information regarding the Shirlington Limousine scandal, click here )

RYAN WHITE FUNDING FOR PASSAIC COUNTY

In early May, I joined Senator Frank Lautenberg and Paterson Mayor Joey Torres to announce almost $4.5 million in federal funding made available for our region under the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resource Emergency (CARE) Act. The funding will be used by the City of Paterson for outpatient and ambulatory health and support services throughout the Bergen-Passaic Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) for HIV/AIDS patients. (For more information regarding Ryan White Funding, please click here )

CONGRESSIONAL FORMER MAYORS CAUCUS

Recently, I joined with a bipartisan group of legislators from across the nation to announce the formation of a new Congressional Former Mayors' Caucus. Having served as the Mayor of Paterson from 1990 - 1997, I hope this caucus will raise awareness on Capitol Hill of the disastrous effect some of the recent budget cuts can have on municipalities across the country. Dear Congressman Pascrell,

DO you think we should Bring the troops home NOW? And when are you going to have your next Town hall meeting to actually talk to the people you work for. SO that you might actually have a clue as to what we think and want you to do..

I'm just saying..........
