Here's the memo you may have heard about that is supposed to outline Republican strategy into the November elections. Mainly it seeks to confuse and conflate 9/11 with the Iraq war. Think about what these clowns are saying though, guys who stacked up deferments in the Vietnam era but are keen to send your kid to die. Do this, paraphrase the memo, say to yourself, what these guys are really saying is……….

I think you have it exactly right. Confuse and conflate. Also raise the spectre of fear. Keep talking about the 'Global War on Terrorism' as if this were a true war. Make sure that we continue to polarize the country and paint the democrats with the 'weak' brush.

Go team!

It is really pathetic and there are still 5 months until the elections.

Do they really think this same strategy will actually work again?

(It won't, right? Tell me it won't.)

Not that they're saying Saddam was behind 9/11 or anything. Shameless.

With 9/11 showing up seven times in two pages, I wonder who it is that is trying to politicize it?

Notehead, remember that no one ever lost money overestimating the stupidity of the public.

Here's the Republican plan, put our soldiers in harm's way, profit, smear veterans, then pardon the terrists. Rig the vote and blame the Dem loss on them, being soft on terror. Remember Tony Snow says 2500 is "just a number".

You know what SLK? Maybe it's time for a serious debate by serious people, not like the sham today in Washington, or the idiocy on this website. It seems like the more American soldiers die, the more you can yuck it up over how feckless Democrats are. Listen Sparky- you guys are the ones in power. This mess is yours. Through all the horsesh*t, guess what? You're the pony.

Presidential elections have never been about serious debate, and only rarely have much to do with the facts.

We (and by we, I mean Americans) pick people primarily based on personality. Which is why politicians focus on emotional issues (gay marriage, guns, crime, gay marriage) and stick to the broad strokes when it comes to complicated things like the economy.

I'm not sure this cycle will ever be broken as long as there are so many people who blindly vote for someone simply because of their political party affiliation. Are there really only two ways to view the world?

Oh, so, when the Dems are the minority politics should be as pure as the driven snow. Please. Politics have been and will always be a sport for big boys. If you whiny Dems are going to beat the corrupt free drum then you better expect the other side to laugh heartily. The Dems have such a track record of corruption that this is like hitting a slow pitched softball. Neither side is corrupt free. Most of you are still maladjusted to your new role as minority party that you don't yet understand that your old tactics won't work. But instead you make fun of the electorate you are trying to get on your side. This is quite an odd strategy which will fail and lead to even more insults by you superior libs. This is going to be fun. I just can't wait for the fingerpointing.
