Many Indicators Point to Democratic Strength in Midterms

Gallup News service

PRINCETON, NJ - According to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted June 23-24, 2006, the Democrats now lead the Republicans 54% to 38% as the preferred party of registered voters in this fall's congressional elections.

This 16-point Democratic advantage ties with a mid-March Gallup survey for the widest Democratic lead in the 2006 elections for Congress since Gallup started measuring voter support last fall. It is slightly greater than the average 12-point lead the Democrats have held across the nine Gallup "generic ballot" measures conducted since the start of the year.

The difficulties ahead for the GOP in this election are underscored by voters' sour reaction to rewarding the current membership of Congress with another term. Only 38% of registered voters today say that most members of Congress deserve to be reelected. This is down from 42% in January, and is the lowest level of support for incumbents seen on this measure since November 1994 -- just before the transformational election which swept the Democratic majority out of power.

Foj,
I love your passion and have said many times if the Democratic Party consisted of folks like you, it would be far nuttier but would probably win. People like and vote for convictions. Your convictions are wrong but at least you have them.

Unfortunately, your party, is full of lazy, lazy people who would much rather take the easy road than the hard road. The Dems have spent 6 years taking the very easy road and have done none of the hardwork to lay a foundation for electoral victory. Unfortunately for hard working libs like yourself, the weight is too great for the few of you to pull by yourselves. I have said many times, and I think you kind of agree with me, when you guys lose again in November, don't be mad at me or my fellow conservatives. You should be disgusted with your fellow Dems who allowed the polls and the slick talking party leaders talk them away from doing the dirty work that has to be done, ie, actually convincing people who voted Republican to now vote Democratic. All I see and hear are your leaders preaching to the choir. And my Republican choir is bigger at this point. Good luck Foj. I may not document every thing I do for my team like you do, but let's just say I know a lot of neo-cons working just as hard as you. And most of us aren't waiting until July 8th. The campaign started the day after the last election!

"Unfortunately, your party, is full of lazy, lazy people who would much rather take the easy road than the hard road."

Can you cite specific examples, or is this just another of your pointless blanket statements? Name names and instances, please. Otherwise, Forrest, people may think you're just talking out your...

"Can you cite specific examples,...."

I second Robert Livingston's request. You keep saying the same thing that, I guess sounds good to you, but has no basis in fact. I haven't seen evidence that the Bush apologists can actually debate something. I was watching a right wing pundit who was defending the time our lawmakers are wasting with flag burning and The New York Times and her response was that it was because (the Republican congressmen and Senators) constituents were demanding it. Huh? That's just a lie. When I see things like Southerner's statements for example, I feel forced to assume that the writer is lying, stupid or crazy. There, I said it. I know Southerner isn't feeble minded like some folks (sorry Fact), but he keeps pulling this crap out of his, uh, back pocket and somehow there's this apparent consensus that it should be treated as legitimate.

I'm sorry, "Unfortunately, your party, is full of lazy, lazy people who would much rather" blah blah blah is just bullsh*t. Again, I haven't seen evidence that the Bush apologists can actually debate something.

The democrats always find ways to screw up.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

I love this. The proof is in the pudding or results. The Dems got fat and lazy through their years of victory in Congress. They don't know what it means to fight. What has Dean done to bring you back to power? What did the guy before him do? For those who think I am wrong, then get off your lazy backsides and do something that makes you win! As for debates, the apologists don't need to do a thing. Bush whipped Gore in all accounts and Bush whipped Kerry by all accounts. I know you libs don't like to keep score which is why you are always behind. Very lazy indeed.

AE,
You caught me. That is what is great about the internet. I can say anything. I never said you had to believe what I post. I don't care who reads my posts or what they think of them. If you don't want to read my posts then I hope you have the self control to skip past them. I skip past many posters.
