why are you linking to an article that quotes "research?" researchers are well-known to have serious liberal biases, and strong hatred of Republicans in general and President Bush in particular. Such "facts" should be ignored by anone who wants to do the right thing. |

This is a great article. It effectively shows a difference in philosophical approach between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans want to shield businesses from damaging law-suits, thereby saving the businesses (even though they damaged their customers) and the Democrats want to keep the protections that customers have against mal-practice by businesses because they see how these protections can not only repay the customer for the wrong done to them by the business but also, in so doing, show the business how to make a better product. The democrats approach is to put a program in place to identify to these hospitals what they were doing wrong and therefore give them the ability to right those wrongs and actually save money in the long run. Smart. Republicans on the other hand want to allow people to continue to be hurt by inadequate or even incompetant medical care with only the smallest recompense just to allow hospitals to artificially save a buck on insurance at the expense of the people who need help the most. It isnt surprising that Dr. Frist would be all for reducing mal-practice awards while doing nothing to prevent the mal-practice in the first place. |
