Again, it is frustrating watching the slow, bargelike turn of the ship of state away from the course of folly and toward the course of good government, but it is gratifying to many of us to know that when we said years ago that the US should follow the Geneva Convention, we were saying what the administration would someday come to believe. All the authoritarian followers of the administration who heretofore believed that Guantanamo was the correct way to deal with these detainees will now be revising their views to coincide with whatever the Bush administration comes up with next, including using the Geneva convension as the guide.
