Beyond the recent Reuters photo controversy, maybe its time to take a closer look at the photos provided by others. A picture does tell a thousasnd words. http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110008766 http://drinkingfromhome.blogspot.com/2006/08/extreme-makeover-beirut-edition.htm l http://michellemalkin.com/archives/005687.htm

Fmertz - Better read the update on the first link you provided. Quote:Plainly this scene was staged for the benefit of the cameras, though it is important to note we know of no evidence that the photographer was complicit in the staging. It is, however, a clear example of how terrorist groups use journalists to spread their propaganda. (Update: This blog post offers pretty convincing evidence that we were mistaken.)

When I saw the doctored pictures of the fire and smoke I was really surprised at how minor the Photoshop work was. The doctored photo is no more powerful than the undoctored one. The changes are minor and might come under the heading of artistic license, although I subscribe to the theroy that a photojournalist should publish what he gets on film, not what he manipulates in the lab. |
