Two journalists abducted in Gaza http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4792635.stm Gunmen have abducted two journalists from the US Fox News television channel in the Gaza Strip. The pair's Palestinian driver told security officials their car was stopped in Gaza City on Monday evening. Gunmen ordered the two foreigners into another vehicle and they were driven away, he said. There is no indication yet as to who may be responsible. Over the past two years, a number of foreigners have been kidnapped in Gaza. All have been freed unharmed.

Hoops: I do share your sentiments. No doubt, the kidnapped journalists are hard-working brave people. O'Reilly and Hannity, like most republicans, are a couple of pussies who can only talk the talk. They are happiest when their asses are not on the line, but other people's. Not unlike many hard-right supporters right here on MOL. |

For God's sake people...two people were kidnapped. Hardly something to joke about or coopt for political statements. I hope they will be safe. |

Apparently, they were forced to convert to Islam, perhaps as a condition for their release? I don't know. I also don't know if their captors were "Islamo-fascists" who "hate our freedoms" or if they are just Muslims who believe in Islam. Maybe someone at the White House can look into this and let us know. Cheers |

The conversions were forced at the point of a gun. Interestingly, both made positive comments about Islam and the Palestinian people after their release. I don't know if this was the so called Stockholm syndrome kicking in or genuine. |

Steve Centanni is a friend of mine. He's a decent guy who likes just about everyone he meets. He's also a professional who even after his release is thinking like a journalist. The story needs to be told and he would hate if others chose not to do so because of what happened to him. |

Straw, I've always known that Steve Centanni was a great reporter, but now he's shown that he's a courageous reporter and a great human being. You're lucky to know him. Maybe we could invite him to speak in Maplewood some day. Sponsored by MOL? Dave, Jamie?
