Ok, I havent exactly keep up with this over the last month, but here goes.

Chaffee is the moderate "R" incumbant. Who has a neo con primary opponent. The DEMs have 2-3 in the primary 2. Opps, LOL.

Now... the Cons want Chafee out, which is why they are running Laffey. The Funny thing is that in their desire to elect a faithful NEO CON, they may screw themsleves. Ley me back track, this tactic of running Neo cons to bounce out regular repubs worked in past years. But in the current environment, its "not so fast". You see folks are paying attention, and they are getting pissed off.

The Political pendulum is swinging back to the left, which means mainstream populists like Lamont, win Primaries. Which Also means guys like Carl Sheeler can win, he is the progressive guy.

SOoo... if the neo con Laffey wins... the "R" primary.. he will be too far right for the fine state of Rhode Island, which will reject him and vote for the progressive guy (carl Sheeler) who is not too far, politically, from Chafee.

If Chaffe wins the "R" Primary Sheelers chance are diminished, as Chafee is similar to Sheeler in some ways, and I think the voters will stick to the incumbant. Which wouldnt be all that terrible because Chafee often votes with the Dems.

So my prediction is not a prediction: Either Chafee or Sheeler will win.
