The reliable neanderthals at Opinion Journal are at it again. This time they've favored us with a fairly explicit list of the horrors that we can look forward to if the Democrats take control of the House committee chairs. Here are some of my personal favorites:
Quote:... the man likely to run the Judiciary Committee, Michigan's John Conyers...He recently made his plans clear in a 370-page report, "The Constitution in Crisis: The Downing Street Minutes and Deception, Manipulation, Torture, Retribution and Coverup in the Iraq War, and Illegal Domestic Surveillance." The report accuses the Administration of violating no fewer than 26 laws and regulations, and is a road map of Mr. Conyers's explicit intention to investigate...
check. Quote:New York's Charlie Rangel (1970), who opposed the Bush tax cuts and recently voted against free trade with tiny Oman.
check. Quote:Barney Frank ... His main reform priority has been to carve out a new affordable housing fund from [Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's] profits.
check. Quote:Energy and Commerce would return to the untender mercies of John Dingell...would do his best to provide taxpayer help to GM and Ford. But telecom companies would probably get more regulation in the form of Net neutrality rules, and a windfall profits tax on oil would be a real possibility.
check, check and check. Quote:Remember organized labor? Their champion would be George Miller...would make it much easier for unions to organize by largely banning secret elections. ... The Californian also wants to raise the minimum wage and ... spend more federal dollars on local school construction.
check check check Quote:We also can't forget California's Henry Waxman..., among the most partisan liberals and who at Government Reform would compete with Mr. Conyers to see who could issue the most subpoenas to the Bush Administration.
A partisan! Mon dieu! (pardon my French). I'll have to think hard about which one to root for, though mostly I just enjoy a high scoring game. Shocking -- shocking! -- to consider some of these things. Congressional Oversight! Higher Minimum Wage! Net Neutrality! Lions! Tigers! Bears!

Barney Frank's lover, since jailed and freed, ran a homosexual prostitution ring from their apartment, and Frank claimed he didn't know. I think we should name the South Mountain Reservation area where heteros are warned off by gay blades the "Frank-ing meadow." Tom: beware what you wish for. jd

If you have a problem with Gay people why do you live in this community? Did the WSJ mention anyone else, or did they just pick out Blacks, Jews and Gays? |

Oh, I guess Dingell doesn't fit one of those categories. He's just one of the more conservative Dem in Congress. |

Yes, he is. It's what we call "Boblexia" here. But he does make his points, nevertheless. |

Can Barney Frank chair a committee without me actually having to move in with him? 'Cause that would be fine. If I were going to share an apartment with him I'd definitely be concerned about that, but since I'm pretty well set here in NJ I don't really care. |

"The reliable neanderthals at Opinion Journal...?" At least they are more thought provoking and funny then those whiny, miserable, overrated writers over at the NYT OpEd... They all continue to beat you over the head with the typical left wing garbage... -SLK Anon-I don't have a problem with homosexuals specifically, but I do have a problem with ANYONE who thinks it is ok to impose their morality on the majority in a public space. |

yes, all of them. um, except for David Brooks. And John Tierney. And Tom Friedman was pretty pro-war, so... I agree that Dowd and Brooks's contributions are often astoundingly fatuous for major newspaper columnists, but I'm guessing their banality wasn't what you were referring to. and speaking of fatuousness, what on earth does this mean?

"I don't have a problem with homosexuals specifically, but I do have a problem with ANYONE who thinks it is ok to impose their morality on the majority in a public space." I assume, SLK, that you would have a problem with ANYONE who thinks it is ok to impose their reality on the majority in a public space…. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/9/5/105935/0807 Yeah, the sky just may be falling. |

One more for Dranove, make of it what you will Quote:"I can literally remember what he was wearing: an Air National Guard flight jacket, cowboy boots, complete with the - in Texas you see it a lot - one of the back pockets will have a circle worn in the pocket from where you carry your tin of snuff, your tin of tobacco. He was exuding more charisma than any one individual should be allowed to have."
