Olbermann: It is to our deep national shame—and ultimately it will be to the President’s deep personal regret—that he has followed his Secretary of Defense down the path of trying to tie those loyal Americans who disagree with his policies—or even question their effectiveness or execution—to the Nazis of the past, and the al Qaeda of the present. Today, in the same subtle terms in which Mr. Bush and his colleagues muddied the clear line separating Iraq and 9/11 -- without ever actually saying so—the President quoted a purported Osama Bin Laden letter that spoke of launching, “a media campaign to create a wedge between the American people and their government.” Make no mistake here—the intent of that is to get us to confuse the psychotic scheming of an international terrorist, with that familiar bogeyman of the right, the “media.” The President and the Vice President and others have often attacked freedom of speech, and freedom of dissent, and freedom of the press. Now, Mr. Bush has signaled that his unparalleled and unprincipled attack on reporting has a new and venomous side angle: The attempt to link, by the simple expediency of one word—“media”—the honest, patriotic, and indeed vital questions and questioning from American reporters, with the evil of Al-Qaeda propaganda. That linkage is more than just indefensible. It is un-American. Mr. Bush and his colleagues have led us before to such waters. We will not drink again. And the President’s re-writing and sanitizing of history, so it fits the expediencies of domestic politics, is just as false, and just as scurrilous. “In the 1920’s a failed Austrian painter published a book in which he explained his intention to build an Aryan super-state in Germany and take revenge on Europe and eradicate the Jews,” President Bush said today, “the world ignored Hitler’s words, and paid a terrible price.” Whatever the true nature of al Qaeda and other international terrorist threats, to ceaselessly compare them to the Nazi State of Germany serves only to embolden them. More over, Mr. Bush, you are accomplishing in part what Osama Bin Laden and others seek—a fearful American populace, easily manipulated, and willing to throw away any measure of restraint, any loyalty to our own ideals and freedoms, for the comforting illusion of safety. It thus becomes necessary to remind the President that his administration’s recent Nazi “kick” is an awful and cynical thing. And it becomes necessary to reach back into our history, for yet another quote, from yet another time and to ask it of Mr. Bush: “Have you no sense of decency, sir?”

"In the 1920’s a failed Austrian painter published a book in which he explained his intention to build an Aryan super-state in Germany and take revenge on Europe and eradicate the Jews. The world ignored Hitler’s words, and paid a terrible price.” —President George W. Bush Let's look a little further into this statement by the president. If Bin laden is Hitler, THEN F-CKING KILL HIM ALREADY!! What the f-ck are you waiting for, Mr. Bush? You have the entire country with you on this, liberals and conservatives alike. The president is the only one ignoring Bin Laden. Has been for five years. If Bin Laden is the president-day Hitler in the president's eyes, how come he is not dead? |

March 13, 2002, just over six months later: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/03/20020313-8.html
Quote: Q [But] Don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive? THE PRESIDENT: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.

More than one is delusional. September 06, 2006 Democrats Nominate 9/11 Conspiracy Theorist in Florida (UPDATE: More Dem 9/11 Conspiracists!) Democrats in Florida's 15th district have nominated a 9/11 conspiracy theorist to run for Congress. Dr. Bob Bowman had 55 percent over 45 percent for John M. Kennedy. The winner will face incumbent Republican Rep. Dave Weldon. But don't worry, it's okay for him to "quesion" 9/11, because Dr. Bob Bowman is a retired Air Force officer. See how that works, if you served in the military, you get the pass from the Democrats. At least he's no chickenhawk. Plus he's got a Ph.D. I mean, that would get me to vote for him right there. And for you Catholics out there, it just gets worse. He's a former "Archbishop" of the "United Catholic Church"....where gays, lesbians, and abortion rights activists who are out of Communion go to congregate. Here's his website. Doesn't it just make you proud to be a Democrat? Source: The former head of the Star Wars missile defense program under Presidents Ford and Carter has gone public to say that the official version of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory and his main suspect for the architect of the attack is Vice President Dick Cheney. "The exercises that went on that morning simulating the exact kind of thing that was happening so confused the people in the FAA and NORAD....that they didn't they didn't know what was real and what was part of the exercise," said Bowman "I think the people who planned and carried out those exercises, they're the ones that should be the object of investigation." Asked if he could name a prime suspect who was the likely architect behind the attacks, Bowman stated, "If I had to narrow it down to one person....I think my prime suspect would be Dick Cheney." Bowman said that privately his military fighter pilot peers and colleagues did not disagree with his sentiments about the real story behind 9/11. I've actually talked about this guy being a nutjob before in an unrelated post. I'll try to find it. UPDATE: Found it in two places. I had heard of Bowman from commenters, both of whom cite Bowman as an authority figure. Here's one: MA Mosque Claims U.S. Government Behind 9/11. Here's the other: Charlie Sheen: CIA, Jews, Space Aliens Caused 9/11 http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/184553.php |

Good for the gander: Bubbinski apologists are still foaming at the mouth over ABC’s “The Path to 9/11” docudrama, and the whining over it has gotten so loud that even the NYT has noticed. Usually when see this much liberal handwringing about how ‘unfair’ or ‘inaccurate’ something is, that means whatever it is they’re flipping out over is well worth seeing/reading/hearing. So consider the panic-stricken cries of ‘unfair!’ and ‘inaccurate!’ as a ringing endorsement of “The Path to 9/11″. The first part airs Sunday 9-10 at 8 pm ET and the conclusion airs Monday 9-11 at 8 pm ET. Update I: Brian at Iowa Voice asks an excellent question: Why was a blatantly biased (and untrue) movie made by Michael Moore and released right before the 2004 Presidential election totally OK with libs, but a documentary, being aired on one of the most liberal networks on the air, placing a large share of the blame for 9/11 on Clinton isn’t? My answer: Because the Bush-hating anti-war left are only interested in their version of the ‘facts’, no matter the issue. I’m betting that Path to 9-11 will be a lot closer to being accurate than Moore’s crockumentary ever hoped to be. Update II: Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters blogs extensively on the left’s smear campaign against the docudrama. Uh, because Michael Moore made it perfectly clear that his movie was a piece of political invective, and if you wanted to see it you had to buy a ticket. ABC is presenting it as fact, and they are sucking off the teat of the public airwaves. Oh, and you're on the wrong thread, idjit. This is the "disagree with Bush and you're a Nazi" thread. The "Path to 9/11" thread is over there... |

The best weapon of all is fear: The Nazis used it. The Communists used it. The Khmer Rouge used it. Augusto Pinochet used it. Idi Amin Dada used it. Papa and Baby Doc Duvalier used it. Alfredo Stroessner used it. Nicolae Ceaucesco used it. George W. Bush uses it. They're all in exalted company with each other. All of them should burn in hell, including "you know who."

Nice to see you haven't excluded Condi, Don, and Dick from that group either. What's the matter, Spineless? Not able to take a little rhetorical exaggeration without making the tasteless, insipid link to an autism website? Let's give you the sensitivity award for September, 2006. Haven't you heard the president, the vice president, and the SECDEF lately giving their "unhinged" diatribes and exaggerations to incite fear in US citizens and trying in vain to justify creating a mess in Iraq that the next president will have to clean up? And all the while they have failed to secure our most important line of defense--- our own borders. Linking a post, as you did, to an autism website was the tasteless, stupid act of a buffoon.

No, Tom, we're just recycling old material from 2002. Replace the "Q" with an "N", and all the old talking points are available to use for Iran. There are mid-term elections coming up, so the old "Vote with the President, Not the Terrorists" material will be used again, this time to get Congress to approve the "secret trials" plan. As CSNY once sang:If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do. Don't you? If I had ever been here before on another time around the wheel I would probably know just how to deal With all of you. And I feel Like I've been here before. |

SLK - You dont understand the implications of what your fearful leader said. He says we have nothing to fear but democrats. He is a McCarthyite but instead of communists now anyone who doesnt go along with his policies is aiding the enemy. Therefore the president of the united states has accused MOST Americans with aiding the enemy. If you are not outraged by that statement then, (as we all already know), you are just plain being dense. I will be exercising my right to vote the bums out in November. Its how we do it in a democracy. I will be writing my representatives to tell them how angry I am with the administrations rhetoric, its how we do it in a democracy and I will continue to post my opinion on this board to share that opinion with other people because its how we do it in a democracy. I suggest you 'take it to the streets', if thats what YOU do. |
