Southern Women Breaking Up With Bush MACON, Georgia (AP) -- President Bush's once-solid relationship with Southern women is on the rocks. "I think history will show him to be the worst president since Ulysses S. Grant," said Barbara Knight, a self-described Republican since birth and the mother of three. "He's been an embarrassment." In the heart of Dixie, comparisons to Grant, a symbol of the Union, is the worst sort of insult, especially from a Macon woman who voted for Bush in 2000 but turned away in 2004. In recent years, Southern women have been some of Bush's biggest fans, defying the traditional gender gap in which women have preferred Democrats to Republicans. Yup, You gotta believe this. No one will vote for the Republicans and the Democrats will control all of Congress. This is so eerily like September 2004 that it is scary. I wish the usual suspects would look through the archives and realize they are in for yet another disappointment. But, hey, keep believing that all these groups are against Republicans. Then you can jump on tom's bandwagon and scream fraud, when in reality it's a simple case of rejection. And yes, I do love seeing Dems frothing at the mouth. They are so in love with themselves and so overly confident that it is great fun to watch. | ||
