First of all, I can't tell you how shocked I was to learn of the news, in London no less, on CNBC Europe. Second of all, I should say I spent a little time working in the Governor's office during a recently completed fellowship... for the sake of disclosure (bad choice of words?).

Since the issues surrounding the resignation have been discussed on this forum pretty completly (yes, I just read most of it), I would like to add this: I think a lot is going to get done over the next few months.

The Governor has nothing to loose, and I think the dems in the legislature are going to follow. I think now that there's no more pressure from the various lobbying grouops (especially the builders), I think there will be some bold initiatives that get through. I think what we see in Trenton will resemble the whirlwind of activity usually only seen during the lame-duck sessions after the election.

By the way-- after eating in the Tuscan countryside-- I can never really eat "Italian" here again.
