All this rage and the carpet is fine???

Maybe it was style police trying to send you a message that wall to wall carpet in your living room is just, ahem, tacky (even RL).

I can just imagine calling the insurance company:

"I'd like to make a claim: some old lady ran over my carpeting. The bitch."

"Your carpeting?"

"Yeah, my carpeting, a-hole."

"How on earth did they run over it?"

"It was in the street."

(sound of line disconnecting)

OK, folks. I think by now, Maplewoody sees the (non)value of posting this complaint here.

We wouldn't have piled on poor Maplewoody if he/she hadn't called the poor woman the b word. Twice! And defamed old people, too.

This thread wins this week's Award for Self-Absorption.

Carpeting must be installed every day, across the world, without throwing it into the middle of the street. Just a hunch.

Do you folks read what you are about to post before you hit "Post this Message"? Isn't that what the "Preview/Post Message" function is for?

I AM an old person! I bitterly resent the way old people have been referred to in this thread. I have been driving for 35 years with never even a fender bender. And old as I am, I wouldn't be stupid enough to allow my carpet to be laid in the street!

If you are going to be laid in the street, you should be careful of cars. That's why god made beds.

It seems to me that people shouldn't lay out carpet in the street to cut it.

Maybe Maplewoody can sue Ralph Lauren himself? If he didn't have carpet to sell, Maplewoody wouldn't be in this mess...

Maplewoody-
Glad to hear your carpet is 'fine...' Hate to say this but, even though 'everyone else drove a few feet out of their way...' Did you even stop to think the people cutting your carpert were the inconsiderate ones? The road is for driving on, not cutting carpet. I think someone needs a reality check...

Gotta say - if there were something in the road, I would probably run over it unless there were some sort of person asking me to look out...Public road and all were the installers right there? It is totally their fault BTW

And it's not just carpeting. If you put your pants in the street, someone will probably run over them.

Computer, toaster, furniture, magazines, tools. All that stuff will get run over if you put it in the street.

OK. So let's decide how many people should run over Maplewoody before we have had enough fun with him? We might have reached the limit already.

If the roadway was to be utilized for cutting carpet or blocked in any way, there should have been traffic cones and warning signs in place. It's not the "OBB's" fault.

This morning I put my underwear in the street.

Sure enough, they got run over. By a short guy in his 20s, yakking on a cellphone and driving a Hummer.

Hank,

I never thought you would go over to the dark side and add one of those signatures. When Nynex merged with Bell Atlantic we fought a holy war because the BA people all had these pithy signatures that tried to pass themselves off as deep thinkers and philosophers.

I can deal with you being a Yankee fan but I implore you "Please lose the signature"

P.S. Okay, I really can't deal with you being a Yankee fan
