Dearest Brothers Ross, I understand your desire to keep the board family friendly, childish and ignorant comments notwishstanding. However, some of these filters are just a little too strict, inhibiting certain word combinations and forcing authors into spending far too much time rewording perfectly harmless phrases. For example, I have tried, on several occassions, to put the words "as" and "she" following each other in a sentence. But, it comes up "" everytime. I appreciate your attempt at controlling crude vernacular. Or perhaps it is a two-man campaign against improper grammer. I don't know. But, please realize that there are indeed some occassions where word combinations are perfectly innocent. Or someone needs to tell a story about a donkey. |

I'm taking a wild guess that, with paid advertisers, maybe its better to be safe than sorry. This is my "being reasonable" attitude. Having said that, can I start a ranting thread about how its OK for Americans to see graphic depictions of murder on television... but if someone sees a breast the world will end? Needless to say bad language is also a sign of the apocalypse; gosh, if we weren't so well protected by the FCC maybe the children would start using bad language! I can also do a thread on how much money was wasted on Janet Jackson's nipple, but that seems kind of old. When did this country turn into a collection of pussies? (By which I mean timid cats, no offense to any feline-Americans out there).

Greenetree: I had the same problem the other day when I tried to write the phrase: "as (space) she sped past me". If I had been been referring to a male driver and tried to type the phrase "as he sped past me" this would not have been a problem. I just assumed that Dave and Jamie had that old prejudice against woman drivers of motor vehicles but perhaps I am wrong and this is a more universal problem. Dave/Jamie: Is there any way we can once again use the phrase "as (space) she" on this board without having it come out ""? |

Reminds me of when a friend of mine tried to type something about her granddaughter Cassandra on some type of forum, which had software that not only filtered, but replaced the "naughty" words with something not-so-naughty. Cassandra became Cbuttandra. Of course, everyone then called her CButt for short. |
