List of complaints: 1. Deliberately amplifying the tension between Chad Hedrick and Shani Davis. 2. Carrying on as though the gold medal was Apollo Anton Ohno's to lose. Perhaps they could have covered the strength of the Koreans a bit more. 3. New gripe - the media reporst that Sasha Cohen is poised for the gold. In a way, I suppose she is. Her performance was beautiful. However, the top three are essentially tied for first right now. Seems to me that the real story on Thursday night is which of the three will manage the pressure and deliver their best long program.

Dick Button's obvious panning of any non-American skater was ridiculous. They were all "terible" except for Kimmie, Emily and Sasha. If they are so bad, how did they make it to the top in the World Cup? |

I think it's possible to make it to the top of the World Cup, and yet still have a terrible single night of skating. Isn't it? |

I was just saying to my wife...wouldn't it be great if one of them ran into the wall? then...much to my delight...whammo! they should throw a really bad one in there every once in a while for entertainment value. {yes...kidding...} |

The coverage has been really, really boring. But it actually could be worse... John Tesh could be covering the Olympics. My big complaint is the all the pre-Olympic hype of specific athletes by NBC. All they are doing is setting the public up for disappointment when the athletes don't perform up to NBC's expectations. Second is the lame attempt to create suspense when they show the taped coverage in prime time. Don't make me wait to see something interesting at 11:30 pm when I already know what happened. |

It's official now. The US hockey team is done, having lost to Finland in the quarterfinals, finishing with a glittering record of 1-4-1. Send the kids the next time. |

Bode Miller hurt his ankle playing basketball. Guess he's pretty much done! What a mess. Kwan drops out at the last minute, Miller doesn't live-up to his hype, the US Hockey Team dies, and you wonder why no ones watching these games. oH well, I'll be watching American Idol tonight.

Sure, anything's possible. Didn't a lot of non-American ice dancers had a very difficult night a few nights ago? I didn't watch, but I think quite a few of them fell. |

The Olympics are a big bore this year. They have become too hyped and too commercialized in recent years. They shouldn't have them every two years. Go back to four years between games, then people may be more interested. Like all other sports, it's about money now and less about competition and international good will. |

And now the Canadians are out (in hockey). That's okay. Gives the NHL players more time to rest before returning to work. |

Betty, they are every four years, with the summer and winter games on different cycles (Winter in '02,'06,'00 and Summer in "08, '12, '16). Before both games were duting e year. |

LL I think bettyd is talking about the Olympics- as opposed to the WINTER olympics- so she'd be right. |

I guess she rather than have them both during the same year but back on a four year schedule.? Do most people who watch the Winter Games like the Summer ones as well and vice versa? |

I can't get into the games this year. Neither can a lot of my friends. NBC is covering them strangely. They are using poltical pundit Tucker Carlson as anchor in the late afternoons on MSNBC. I wonder what that is going to do for his career and credibility as a serious conservative, although one who doesn't base his commentary on the daily talking points released by the RNC. |

The women's curling final today was mesmerizing. And I know nothing about the sport. I have found, that the events that are covered, as they happen are far more interesting then the edited, assembled package we are fed in primetime. The two curling announcers clearly knew their stuff and while I wish I had been told more, I kind of liked the fact that I wasn't being INSTRUCTED in the nuances of the sport/game and was being told what was happening and why. It left me to figure out all the other stuff. PrimeTime stuff sucks. Torino will not go down as one of the more memorable Olympics. |

I happen to enjoy the figure skating. Was hoping to catch it tonight. Alas, AOL already posted the results. |

I know what you mean Duncan. I was watching some of the curling on Sunday...the women. I didn't have a clue as to how they were scoring (I did get the idea that it's a good thing when you knock your opponent's rocks out of the scoring area and set up blocks to protect your own rocks), but other than that it was fun watching the game. |

Speaking of the Olympics, did anyone catch this remark from Bryant Gumbel: ""Finally, tonight, the Winter Games. Count me among those who don’t like them and won’t watch them ... Because they’re so trying, maybe over the next three weeks we should all try too. Like, try not to be incredulous when someone attempts to link these games to those of the ancient Greeks who never heard of skating or skiing. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention. Try not to point out that something’s not really a sport if a pseudo-athlete waits in what’s called a kiss-and-cry area, while some panel of subjective judges decides who won ... So if only to hasten the arrival of the day they’re done, when we can move on to March Madness — for God’s sake, let the games begin."" So I guess the fact that there are no world class black skiers means that the folks who do qualify for the Olympics aren't the world's "greatest athletes" in that sport, or any other sport in those games.

Duncan, I always thought curling was a laughable event. Today' s match changed my mind. I watched the finals with a group of Swedes. That added to the drama. |
