I can't speak for SO, but I've driven through Millburn and Maplewood about an hour ago and there was a slushy coating (less than one inch) on the less traveled roads. The higher traffic roads had it on the sides but were mostly just wet in the traveling lanes. I did briefly lose traction on a hill on one of those less traveled streets, but then recovered and drove on with no real problem. It is one of those days when you just need to slow down and take it easy, but nothing too bad yet. I see a post on another thread (in the Education section about possible early dismissal) from a teacher (Onyx) who went out at lunch and said that the roads around South Mountain School were OK and that (s)he did not anticipate any early dismissal at this point. I do think it may get really nasty later when it freezes up and more snow falls on top. |

I just went out and did a first pass with the shovel. I pretty much "plowed" heavy slush off the sidewalks. I agree that it will be nasty later if it comes down harder. Right now, it's just heavy and wet. I'm working from home because I didn't want to be on 78/287 during evening rush, but I would have gone to the office if I worked closer to home. |

Pulaski Skyway... ugh. My 3-1/2 year old calls it the "Wiggly Bridge." This is great weather to drive across the Wiggly Bridge!

I guess I am glad that I opted for the train rather than deal with the TP/78 rush hour fun fest |

The roads are VERY DANGEROUS right now. I've heard this on NBC and CBS within the last 15 minutes or so. Drivr careful everyone and be safe! You don't want to end up like this |

I can personally verify the roads are bad. I just slid down Jefferson, losing traction twice from Kendal to Durand. It's turned to snow again. I had *shoveled* the slush at 3 while waiting for the bus and the walk is covered again w/about an inch of slush. |

Oh yeah..I didn't think of how full the train may be. It wasn't overly packed this morning and I'm counting on people leaving early-never a good idea. |

I think Greenetree has it right - I shoveled once, I'm about to shovel again and put down some salt... let's hope for the best. If that stuff freezes (and it will, tonight) we're in for a very bad morning. |

Slippery and getting icy, with the temperatures supposed to drop to the mid-20s overnight. Tomorrow's drive will be challenging, I think! |

Glad I stayed home today; I'd be sitting on 78 myself. I just looked at Metrocommute.com. Ugh. BTW, thanks, Case. Now I feel like some sort of "sleet role model" and feel compelled to go out and shovel again. And I have to do the neighbor's walks, because the hubby always snow blows ours and he is away this weekend, so it's my turn to pitch in.
