Isn't that what we have the Political Soapbox for?

It's like the end of "Blazing Saddles" when the brawl spills out of the set of one movie into the other sets.

I never really read the political section, but damn! If this is what it's like... I'm amazed. Seems like we're all one step away from torches and pitchforks.

When I go into the Political Soapbox (which is rare), I end up not wanting to get anywhere near MOL for awhile....

Yeah, and I'm starting to feel that way about the regular soapbox too, thus this thread.

Action has been taken.

"I mean it this time, dammit!"

But, since we're bad at following directions, will it work?

I am like Greenetree. I REFUSE (unless I'm REALLY BORED) to enter the Political Soapbox. I've lurked enough in there to see how TOTALLY VICIOUS AND IMMATURE the regulars in there can be.

Also, I'm sorry to say but ANY ISSUE CAN BE MADE POLITICAL. Seriously, there is a politics to everything (even dancing as the song goes). For instance I don't think that a conversation regarding whether a fetus should or shouldn't be aborted is something that should be legislated. However other people do. So now abortions are part of a political platform. I mean how do we decide what goes in the POLITICAL box and what doesn't? Someone asked for "gay friendly" area places. I find that completely unpolitical but I could see how someone else would feel differently. I could see how an innoccuous conversation like that might lead to discussing Bush and how Republican's suck. Anything could happen.

I don't like the idea of pigeonholing my conversations. The soapbox to me is a place where you are SUPPOSED to state your STRONG OPINIONS. Strong opinions are often things that are related to politics. There is a fine line I would say. Just one last thing... You guys who don't like politics can easily ignore those threads that bother you. Do you really need to complain about them and drive the Admin to pigeonhole the conversations?

Alley-

And constantly pigeonholing ALL Republicans as hateful evildoers is mature?

Ummm, ok

I hate democrats and republicans equally. In fact, I did not capitalize their names on purpose.

Mayor - I think that correct term is "republocrats". Or, "democans".

I wonder if I start clarifying my feelings about Republicans right now (responding to SLK and Mayor) if I can get this thread moved into the Politics section? I mean is there a rule that states that you can't start talking about politics half-way through a thread? Will it get moved into Politics then? If not, isn't that a cheap way to avoid Dave's No Politics outside of the Politics section policy? I sorta would think that getting this thread moved into Political Soapbox would be ironic, personally.

Nah, it's nice to see young people have strong opinions about vital issues of the day.

MBJ, I thought my post was sorta funny. I guess we all have differences of opinions on humor. I'm off to go watch Pee Wee's Playhouse again. Tralala!
