Pippi, I was going to ask the same question.

I will guess Larry.

Was I right?

If this was Jeopardy the question would be "Who are the hair cutters at Larry's Barbershop on Maplewood Ave.?"

Karin has never messed my hair up, but the last time I got Larry's chair, it got cut a little too short, and still hasn't grown out right yet.
The problem is, when Larry's chair is free next, and you're up, it just feels like bad form to say no thanks, you fscked up my hair last time".
maybe I'll just start going to the mall....

yes, the danger of the walk in...You never know what you might get..

ignoring the quality of the cut, I like:

Bernie, because he's knows his sports.
Karin, because she's about a nice as someone can be.
Maria, because she's fantastic with the children. (in this case my son, not me for you anti-Straw types out there!)
Larry, because they named a barbershop after him, of course!

Since when did you care about bad form or any type of form for that matter. Remember, I still can curse like a banshee, so watch out Mr. B (that's one quarter of Bloo in case you didn't get it).

whatever chair is open. My hair, if you can call it that is mostly gone. A #1 on the clippers and my cut is done is 2 minutes.

Maybe they should get an express chair for people like me.

In my experience, the answer would be anybody but Maria. She's done some awful chop jobs on my kids and lots of other folks I know. Can't tell you how many conversations I've had with people who said they tried Larry's once, and were very unhappy and won't go back--only to find out it was Maria who had cut their hair!

My middle child insists on having Karen, and no one else, every single time. Couldn't tell you why.

Moster, rather than say something negative like "you fscked up my hair last time" you say "thanks Larry, but I'd like to wait for Karen." Plenty of folks "walk-in" and then wait for their barber of choice and nobodies feathers get ruffled.

Waiting for the "barber of their choice" isn't what going to a barber shop is all about. Maria does a fine job. You probably just want your kids walking around with silly hair cuts. Since getting silly hair cuts isn't what a barber is about you should look elsewhere.

Well, then I guess you better run down to Larry's and put up a sign, because I've seen lots of people doing it! You gotta tell them they're doing it all wrong, in the "World According to Strawberry." Besides, I would think with all your money, you'd be taking the kid to the most expensive NYC salon and spa for his buzzcuts.

Jeez.

Little PMS this morning, or what. If you didn't want answers, why'd you ask the question?

I was not asking for someone to use the thread to attack someone like Maria who is dedicated, hard working and lovely. You took a nice thread and made it mean.

Karin---she's great with the hair, the kids love her, plus she's an old family friend who we get to catch up with every few weeks (plus she gives us updates on how her relatives are doing, info we'd never learn otherwise).

It's rude to criticize specific barbers at Larry's. They are all really nice people and it serves no purpose to embarrass them here.

I have finally found my barber.

If you're going to post a "poll", I don't know why you would expect all comments to be positive. Dumb idea if you don't want any hurt feelings.

Straw... mjh has a point. If you poll, you will get negative numbers.. Look at a certain someone's approval rating.

Personally...my son and I like Bernie and Karin!

the poll asked who do you favor? The poll did not ask who do you hate?

As a result, MJH'S point is foolish.

Ah...but still. If you favor someone and post it, then the people not named are "out of favor". So the point is not foolish. If you wanted a love fest, then start a love fest. Witness this definition, number 4...

my son has always loved Maria. "She uses baby powder when she brushes off my neck".

She's also very understanding when he gets really ticklish and giggly.

That said, we usually just take the "next available" chair these days, as he'd rather take any haircut over having to wait............

We use Karin. My son has curly hair and she cuts it just right, short with the curl left on top. Always a good cut. We politely wait for her.

BurJazz on Third and Valley, under ProPets.

I made my husband go there after too many hack jobs at a "haircut store" (children's terminology) in Maplewood. Now his haircut looks as good as he does... which is to say, very, very good.
