Cripes, when did we allow oral sex to become acceptable among children?

Actress Sharon Stone is adamant teenagers should be prepared to engage in oral sex, if it saves from them the dangers of unprotected penetrative sex. The Basic Instinct star spends much of her time away from Hollywood working as an activist raising AIDS awareness, and she always carries condoms with her to hand out in a bid to increase safe sex levels.

She explains, "I was in the store the other day and I watched a young girl trying on clothes, showing her abdomen. "Her mother was trying to talk to her about not being inappropriately luring. I said, 'Gee that would look much nicer with a camisole under.'

"Her mother walked away, and I said to the girl, 'I'd like to give you a two-minute conversation about sex.' "Young people talk to me about what to do if they're being pressed for sex? I tell them (what I believe): oral sex is a hundred times safer than vaginal or anal sex. "If you're in a situation where you cannot get out of sex, offer a blow job. I'm not embarrassed to tell them."

If you have a daughter, make sure you pass on this sage advice. And let them know that STDs cannot be transmitted via oral sex, that that's just an urban myth.

 What an idiot.

Can you imagine someone coming up to your daughter in a store and saying this crap??

Sharon really should stick to what she knows, which may be more along the lines of "If you are in a situation where you want to be a movie star, but don't have much talent, offer a blow job and you may just get a role in a movie."

Disclaimer: I have no truthful foundation for this comment; it's just a hunch.

Where was she when I was a kid?

I can imagine a lot of surprised, startled, embarrassed, confused and a few extremely immature but contented males. only speaking for my gender

Of course I agree with LilLB tho.

Oral sex is sex. And damn there are some nasty things that can spring up as a result of that.

Even Ice Cube knew that oral sex could spread AIDS as shown in the movie "Boyz n tha Hood"

Hoops, there might not be as many surprised young males as you might think. Many young people today don't think that oral sex is a big deal. As this article states, it's "the new good night kiss" for many.

Stone is probably right that oral sex is better in terms of risk for contracting AIDS, but it's still risky behavior for other STDs.

Besides the obvious risks associated with oral sex, what I find appalling in her message is that girls being "pressured" for sex should just acquiesce with a little blow job. How about empowering girls to withstand pressure and more importantly educating boys that it is not o.k to pressure girls.

Young girls giving out blow jobs on a casual basis are sluts , just like they were in 1950 , 60 , 70 & 80 . It's just that the boys got them BS'ed now into believing that it's OK . Females have completely thrown the towel in on the feminist movement . The other thing that blows me away are girls making out with each other @ night clubs just for the shock value. Way to go girls. Continue to make Joe Francis rich.

Just sticking to the sex issue, Stone does have one thing right. She carries and passes out condoms. The percentage of teens engaging in sex is not going to get any less. The best thing is to educate our children and make sure that if they are sexually active they at least use protection.

That's just crazy. It really took awhile for it to sink in. Then I realized I have 3 daughters, I am so screwed. More than handing out condoms and telling them to give guys BJ's instead of having sex with them, we really need to teach them to stand up for themselves.

Maybe she's following in Farrah Fawcett's crazy footsteps. Sharon Stone will not age well, nor will she enjoy the steadily decreasing limelight. Maybe she can do a modern remake of Sunset Boulevard and say, a la Norma Desmond, "I'm ready for my knee pads Mr. Spielberg."

Didn't her ex-husband once take her to a zoo and have a leopard attack her? Maybe in was a wolverine...

Las hit the nail on the head- it is rape. Our sons and daughters have to be told that whatever they do sexually, it has to be safe, consensual and given at least an afterthought regarding possible consequences. And they shouldn't let anyone pressure, cajole or force them into doing something against their will. Guys who tell girls that sex acts prove love are full of zhit; girls who use sex to get their way are likewise. Start out respecting yourself and you'll most likely respect your intimate partners as well.

Sermon over. Now we can all get back to the central issue of bashing Sharon Stone (what a babboon's azz!).

 Las is absolutely right.

Incidentally, who the hell is Sharon Stone to set the paradigm of how young girls should behave? It's idiots like her who use her "fame" to embrace and spew forth ridiculous ideas that we do not need.

This does not mean that we don't have a serious issue with our daughters right now. It's pretty scary. It is up to parents and important adults in a child's life to help build her self-esteem and let her know that she does not have to blow a 13 year old boy to be accepted or to be cool.

Las AND Brett Weir have hit it squarely on the head.

She blew past the zoo staff and persuaded them to let her husband into the Komodo den.
Mr. Dragon liked the color of his socks, white, (I know, on MOL white is a non-color), and bit his foot.
I interviewed a Komodo dragon in the Toronto zoo, and he told me the offending family member was confused about Ms. Stone's anatomical advice.

You MUST read the review of Basic Instinct 2 in today's times. First paragraph:

"It should come as no surprise that "Basic Instinct 2," the long-gestating follow-up to Paul Verhoeven's 1992 blip on the zeitgeist screen, is a disaster of the highest or perhaps lowest order. It is also no surprise that this joyless calculation, which was directed by Michael Caton-Jones and possesses neither the first film's sleek wit nor its madness, is such a prime object lesson in the degradation that can face Hollywood actresses, especially those over 40. Acting always involves a degree of self-abasement, but just watching trash like this is degrading."

 MOre reviews (from Rottentomatoes.com):

"It doesn't know whether it wants to be a Skin-e-max soft core porno or an episode of a primetime cop drama. It's unfulfilling as neither and ends up as an awful hybrid: we'll call it CSI: Cleavageville. I take that back: CSI: Faux Cleavageville."

"Basic Instinct 2 would be a magnificent exercise in transcendental camp... were it not for the pleading, deluded look behind its leading lady's ice-blue eyes."

"It's been 14 years since the original Basic Instinct, and time -- and the miracles of beauty technology -- have been kind to Stone. Not much else about this movie holds up."

"Surely they can't be serious. This is so bad it must be camp. Under heavy pancake makeup, Sharon Stone gives a bad Mae West imitation, a performance not to be missed by any camp-follower"

"Stone, whose portrayal of mature sexiness was breathtaking in last year's Broken Flowers, is so over-the-top here that Tramell appears to be channeling Cruella De Vil. Or maybe Carol Burnett vamping as "Nora Desmond.""

"Trust your basic instinct and avoid the worst sequel since Staying Alive."

 And one of my favorites:
"Trust your instincts. Listen to that little voice inside that whispers this sequel has 'bad idea' written all over it. "
