What happened last night? Did it just go into overload? overdrive? |

This is terrible because I had posted a question to the candidates that I wanted to hear more about. What happened this time? |

It was there around 3am. I know I posted in it. I think it got heated with posts about the walkout and H resiging as well as the problems at South Mountain. Oh Dave, can you let us know what happened -this time. |

Only undergoing a format change. Back in a day or two. CLK, your question will be at the top of the list. |

Dave! Only at the top of the list if it had the most recent post in it, OK? You'd embarrass the heck out of me if you put it up at the top for any other reason. Sorry, I just figured some of the real grown-ups here were up to their old tricks - I was mad at them, not you.

Tom, Maybe it was the attitude of some posters that was more unfortunate than the timing. |

OK, who felt guilty for posting something that they shouldn't of and thought that they caused the downfall of the Education Thread? I learned to never, ever post news without double, triple verifying it. Items posted here as facts ought ot be vetted as carefully as anything posted in the NY Times. |

Dave just said it's going through a format change. Do we not believe that? fwiw, I do. I'm reasonably sure that Dave would say so if there was another reason. The timing is unfortunate but I am sure there is a good reason. |

I believe Dave..he is highly credible. Maybe he is changing the format because of recent posts, maybe its coincidental. In either case, its his sandbox and he can do what he wants to to keep the kids playing nicely. |

It's something I meant to do about 2 weeks ago and will be something that I hope will encourage some of the candidates to participate (beyond Gregg Betheil's very refreshing openness online). |

Dave - hope you know how much we all appreciate your MOL efforts. However, given recent educational events, especially the walkout and Dr. H's resignation, I believe people feel there's truly a need for this dialogue to continue NOW. MOL has proven itself as an excellent vehicle for that dialogue, as well as a source of information for the community. For example, without MOL, it's likely many community members who don't have students at CHS wouldn't have learned about the resignation for a while, and would have had to rely on media reports many of us consider inaccurate to learn what the walkout was about. In the interest of allowing this dialogue to go on, isn't it possible to hold off on the format changes for at least a few days? |

The NYT is not the fact-checker's beacon. It is opinionated, as it should be, but masks opinion within factual claims. All papers do it, but the grey lady implausibly denies it. jd |

I don't think that anything is stopping anyone from posting education related items in other topic areas. "Soapbox" is probably an appropriate section for many items or "Please Help", for others. |

It was that he couldn't take both of our senses of humor at the same time. The system wacked out and needed major reformatting to allow for the breadth and depth of our combined comedic skills. Besides, he was starting to feel inferior. |

I'm still waiting, Library Lady, to find out if your post about another resignation was true. Last I knew, you said you weren't sure. Is that what you meant by a guilty conscience? If so I will share it with you because I know I am too opinionated - however, that doesn't stop me from posting! |

Onyx...read my post of 3/31/06 in a different thread. I am now pretty sure that was an unverified rumour> Renee Pollack has not and probably will not resign. Posted on Friday, March 31, 2006 - 9:13 am: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can submit a resignation and still be principal. What I want to know is if she has resigned. The Star-Ledger article in today's paper doesn't mention it either. I should never had posted something without checking its authenticity

There are numerous comments about current educational issues on the Maplewood/SO forum on the NJ.com website: http://www.nj.com You need to click on the blue "Forums" heading...click on the "Complete List". Inside the "Essex County" section you will find the township forums, including the one for Maplewood/SO (I think you need to register to post anything there). |

The Nj.com forums seem to be inhabited by two kinds of posters. Some are from here, and know what's going on. Others seem to know about us only from television, but believe that they are qualified to give their expert comment. NJ.com doesn't know what's up here. Keep your eyes on MOL, imho. |
