There are two places that I only go twice a year. Education and Poltical Soapbox. The former is insane due to accusations, rumors, hysteria and chicken littles. The latter, well, those folks are uncivilized and nuts.

With the education section down, I am being driven insane. Dave, please, please, please, please put it back!

Please?

Have you been to the recipes section; it's quite calm.

But I'll meet you there for a "food fight."

"Dave, please, please, please, please put it back!"

Nice Greene... I like the passion, but love the use of the bold, color and size... Maybe you'll start a new trend?

Mama -

I thought we all learned a long time ago that arguing for the sake of arguing didn't actually effect any change? I'm not into talking just to hear myself speak.

But, cool! We can argue about this: does anyone who participates in Political Soapbox actually learn anything from other posters? Or even see someone else's side of things?

Rules of the discussion

Cannot use the words dems (or any variation thereof), republicans (or any variation thereof), libs (ibid), right wing (op. cit.) moderate or any proper name (as relates to registered uses of the board).

I'll bet the "discussion" can't last more than 4 posts with these rules on topic.

Some of the people in Political Soapbox are actually quite bright, up on their politics and articulate (sometimes annoyingly so -- with people often resorting to attacks on spelling or asking if a post was even English). Just the other day, I learned that hydrogen powered cars aren't as "real" as I thought they were. I did get one of the best laughs of the year on MOL in the Polbox thanks to Soda it was a doozy of a barb thrown at Southerner that was an instant classic.

Having said that, I do enjoy venting some of my aggression and disappointment at the current administration and I know of no other place than in the Political Soapbox to do so. Does it change the world or convince others to come to my way of thinking...? Probably not.

Fair enough.... 3 posts to go (by different people, Alley, no loopholes).

Actually four to go. Even though I liked Alley's response, he mentioned two posters by name.

Hmmm.. Wendy, you are technically correct about the "name" thing. But, I'm inclinded to give a pass if names are used only to relate a "who said what" in a non-judgemental way.

Now, depending on how you interpret the word "doozy", there could be a personal value judgement on the part of Alley included in the post.

Let's split the difference and say that we need 3.5 more.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a half of an opinion or perhaps one and half since everyone thinks that their opinions are correctly inflated.

actually greenetree, despite my obviously partisan take on the issues, I do learn many things on the political soapbox. Many of them reinforcing my ideas but some of them leaving some questions of where my position actually should be. (On occasion that may be more to the right, but many times its more to the left).

Argument and debate provide the basis for thoughts and ideas that are different from my own. I have changed my position on some things from reading some of the posts with the accompanying research that many posters provide.
