I loved the book "Interview With a Vampire". I saw the movie once in the theater and have not been able to watch it for more than 5 mins because Tom Cruise ruined it for me. I only wanted to see War of the Worlds because they blew up the Bayonne Bridge Too bad Tom was not on it at the time |

It was funny when some critic said it was his best performance ever when Rain Man came out. I agreed that he sucked less than ever before.

Someone already mentioned that he was GENUINELY good in Magnolia. It was a part where he played himself (who is he really is) so it didn't really require any genuine acting. On a related note, I thought he didn't ruin Vanilla Sky or Minority Report. I judge TC using the Keanu rule. He did a good job if he didn't ruin the movie. |

I forgot that he was in Rain Man. He was good in that, but that was Dustin Hoffman's movie. In retrospect, anyone could have played that part. I also formerly liked him in Born on the 4th of July. Now, whenever I think of him, I think that I will never pay to see one of his movies again. |

Part of the reason why you are seeing Tom Cruise so much in the news over the last few days is because Parade Magazine is running an interview about him in this Sunday's issue where they really question Tom on his actions this last year. The article which doesn't come out until this Sunday is getting TONS OF PRESS on TV and the media in general. Parade magazine's website published the article just now. It's a really good interview, I might even go a little further and say it's pretty harsh on Tom. If your interested find it here: http://www.parade.com/ |

I'm not following this. I don't bother to follow these personal stories. I don't care. I don't let an artist's personal behavior affect whether I read/watch/listen to his/her stuff. If it's good, it's good. Mozart was a drunkard, right?

Sorry the link I posted above, got pulled. You'll have to read the article which I thought was really good in Sunday's newspaper. The article won't go online on the website until this Wednesday, sorry about that. Tom, did you actually call Tom Cruise an artist. What about Keanu? Is he too? Whoa dude!!! Party on dude!!!! |

Tom is only being open about his personal life now because he has a movie and a baby to promote. He was an abused child, as I understand it, and he wants the world to know. Abused children need counseling, affection and sometimes, psychiatry. How has Tom dealt with his abusive past? By vitamins and exercise? By plastering that wicked smile on his puss everyday? If he doesn't believe in the science of psychiatry and doesn't believe that many people suffer from forms of depression, he is living on another planet! Maybe Tom is living proof that he is a Scientology alien from another universe. |

I am afraid for Katie Holmes. I heard that when the baby is born it is taken away from her for 48 hours. No one can make a sound around the baby or talk to the baby for 7 days. That is child abuse. The whole thing is sick. |

as much as I have always enjoyed seeing Katie Holmes since "Wonder Boys" (even in "Pieces of April" too but I never once saw her on that TV show that put her on the map, whatever it was called), one must remember here, that she is an adult. I know that being an adult has not always translated into grown-up behavior, especially for some on MOL, but she is an adult nonetheless. So to blame Talentless Tom for being some sort of Svengali here isnt totally fair...besides, I would prefer to focus more on her unfortunate taste and his unfortunate popularity in the face of his narrow and mediocre (at best) acting talent. She has to have family and friends who are telling her what she is doing is nuts (and yes, I have heard how Talentless Tom's Scientologist goons have had her shut off from everyone)...if they arent, they are at fault too. |

Tom Cruise is merely one of the many unfortunate victims of what we now know to be the incontrovertibly mind-weakening properties of the gas street lighting in his home town of Glen Ridge, NJ. The shocking number of sociopathic/borderline-criminal acts purpertrated by mortals exposed at an early age to the brain-sapping aura emitted by this seemingly harmless illumination has baffled scientists for decades. The truth is: long-term exposure (day or night) leaves the cerebral tissues vulnerable to warped logic, outside suggestion, and unchecked libidinous behaviour. In short, such poisoning leaves the victim an adled sheep, ready to act on the command or suggestion of any who choose to excercise control. Merely an example (Mr. Cruise notwithstanding): the mob-driven gang rape of a helpless adolescent victim in that town by a group of its high school footballers. Thankfully, such ill-chosen lighting schemes as that used by Glen Ridge have been nearly wiped from your state.... Oh, wait... Never mind. Go in peace. --The Oracle of MOL |

But what about Nicole Kidman? It seems like she has basically turned over the kids to this nutcase. They are being homeschooled by his sister and spending the rest of their days at the Scientology Center. Katie should have done what Scarlett did - run like crazy from that nut! |

I read something very interesting a few months ago about Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett. They seem to be very close to Tom and from the article, I understood Jada to say that she and Will's kids are home schooled as well, using the Scientology books and learning methods. |

the real questions about this education method are... does it prepare the children for standardized tests? does it provide differentiated instruction? does the language arts component place enough emphasis on phonics? is it accredited? how do Will and Jada's kids compare with Tom's kids? Is there a Scientology achievement gap? |

Tomkitten is named Suri!!!
Quote:Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes baby arrives LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- The Tomkitten has arrived. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the high-profile pair dubbed TomKat by the media, had a baby girl Tuesday, said Cruise spokesman Arnold Robinson. The baby, named Suri, weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 20 inches long, he said. "Both mother and daughter are doing well," Robinson said in a prepared statement. The name Suri has its origins in Hebrew, meaning "princess," or in Persian, meaning "red rose," the statement said. The baby was born in Los Angeles but Robinson did not disclose the exact location. It's the first child for Holmes, 27. Cruise, 43, has an adopted daughter and an adopted son from his marriage to Nicole Kidman. Details surrounding the birth, which was planned under the tenets of the Church of Scientology as a silent procedure, weren't disclosed. (Full story) About a dozen reporters and photographers stood by outside the Beverly Hills home where Cruise and Holmes live. Security officers inside the compound videotaped the journalists. A security guard at the gate refused to release any information. A few cars did arrive and were allowed into the estate. A police motorcycle officer stopped by around 4 p.m. and sat watching the goings-on. The patrolman, who identified himself as Officer Chase, said he was just making a routine check, since activity around the area had been heightened for some time. He asked if the baby had been born, was told yes, and drove off.

Regarding the placenta--really gross but possible. I remember when I was pregnant I read about how some cultures have the mother eat the placenta--sometimes by drying it and grinding it, other times by actually cooking it. Just the thought of it made we want to puke (and I was already doing enough of that with my morning sickness!).
