Style is the new substance today. Corzine, sorry to say, with his whole sweater-vest outfit deal is IMHO kind of like watching old, un-married Uncle Wally at the holiday dinner table, or your favorite college english professor, the one who wears two different color socks. In short, lacking the type of style gravitas needed to convince the masses that reducing the speed limit to 55 m.p.h. is really, really a good gas policy. So I was thinking, would New Jersey benefit from a celebrity governor? If we had Governor Bruce Springsteen would everyone still be happy, because a lot of people wouldn't understand what he was saying when he was talking about increasing the sales tax? Or if we had Governor Ah-nold, maybe stem cell research could have an excellent tie in with the plot of and p.r. for Terminator 6 and NJ could get a cut of the movie proceeds? Do you think having a celebrity governor would get more things done, and get more national respect and federal money for NJ? And if so, who? |

Celebrities are for California. This is New Jersey. We need a concrete person (concreteer?) for governor.

After the huge success of the "NY" thread, I just wanted to be the first one to jump on FvF's new bandwagon here. My vote would go to... James Gandolfini. |

All I can tell you is that my countrymen/women (Austrians) and I wondered what the heck happened to Californians (yes, even Californians can be perceived as weird on top of just being Californians)when they voted for him.

Case- You will have to excuse me, I am studying for my exam for the procreation license. I might agree with your Gandolfini selection but ONLY if he wears t-shirts to state events. |

Not t-shirts. We have our pride. Track suits, preferably velour. |

Pride? I thought we were talking about the governor of New Jersey. Heh heh heh heh. Besides, I'm sure Gandolfini knows a lot about concrete - he's probably learned a lot of things in the last five years. |

Bajou: Yes, indeed, and I am doing my coursework for the necessary license at the Kevin Federline University. I do hate having to wear the official Kevin Federline do-rag and baggy shorts to class though. But it is required. |

I am disappointed that you fail to see what to me is the most obvious choice for celebrity New Jersey Governor : Tom Cruise, ex-Glen Ridge resident With Governor Cruise we would get : 1) A totally enthusiastic Governor (see Oprah couch jumping incident). 2) An end to the costly coverage of state workers for prescription medicines for depression, mental illness, as well as monies for psychologists and mental health specialists. (Governor Tom knows best) 3) No disruption of New Jersey state government as a result of un-disclosed sexual orientation and marriage for convinience issues a la Jimmy McGreevey. 4) NJ tourism ads being made by Stephen Speilberg, ( mix of E.T. and Saving Private Ryan? " If You Don't Visit New Jersey The Tripods Will Get You"?) 5) Comedy Central WILL NEVER make fun of New Jersey ever again. Sounds promising to me. |

Bajou- I much prefer the weissburgunder (spelling?) from Heidi Schrock. The Wall Street Journal "Weekend' section had a web site in it yesterday that specializes in Austrian wines. Clifford Irving was the famous Holocaust denier author. Under the Austrian law he was recently tried and was sentenced to 3 years in prison I believe. |

Also- We might consider celebrities running various departments in NJ government. Angelina Jolie heading DYFS. Robert De Niro heading the Casino Commission. ( "Are you talkin' to me, Governor Cruise? Are you talkin' to me?...) what thinks you and who do you nominate? |
