Yes, I know, in our intellectually astute communities people don't watch plebian TV, but focus on the higher political, religious, and social issues.

That being said, who do you think will win?

Frankly, I am sorry Elliot was voted off. I believe he was the best overall singer left. Taylor, to me, seems to be a hokey yokel with jerky dance moves and a one note singing style. Katherine seems a bit wooden and inconsistent in her performances.

Who will be the next American Idol, whose cds, of course, you will not buy?

Rumor has it Taylor. If he doesn't it will confirm my belief it is fixed and will remind me why I hadn't bothered to watch any of it until the nephews talked me into it this year. Sadly, no matter who wins I'm stuck going to the Idol concert at the Meadowlands in July. Ick...

Not only is it on the air but 50 million people voted this week.

I'm pulling for Katherine. I think it's really going to come down to their performances next week. It's so close.

I agree with you about Elliot. He was the last good singer on the show and he was REAL. Kat seems to put on an act and Taylor all though a good singer, that dancing has got to go.

Okay folks RUMOR has it that Kat may win. Seems there is an issue of Katharine's father. Her father, Daniel McPhee, is a producer who has worked on numerous Fox's programs. Can I say connection? Maybe a lil favoritism? There were at least 2 eliminations she should have been voted off the show!

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Eliot Yamin was the man! I was SHOCKED to see him go. I'm not a fan of any show and watch AI with resistance, but the kids love it. The salty hair dude that looks like a better Jay Leno and the cute chick are decent, but Yamin rocked!

Great to see SOME people in our area are not intellectual elitists and can appreciate American popular culture!

To all of you who have posted here in this thread so far, you are all in my "dog pound, dudes and dudettes" ( a la Randy).

FVF, there'a another thread in "Arts & Entertainment", but it's not very active right now.

I wouldn't call myself a died-in-the-wool American Idol fan, but I do enjoy it. However, this year I've gotten a little too emotionally involved, thanks to Elliott. Read the forums on http://televisionwithoutpity.com, specifically the Elliott thread, and you'll see lots of impassioned postings. Even more than for the other contestants.

Personally, I think Taylor's going to walk away with it. I just can't see more than half of Elliott's votes going to Kat McPhony.

mooewe-

I loved Elliot's story: high-school drop-out working the counter at a pharmacy, 90% deaf in one ear, and diabetic. The kind of guy you want to pull for. I really, really hope he gets a career out of this.

Katherine on the other hand looks like a spolied princess and Taylor strikes me as the kind of happy-go-lucky goof that would sing for shots in a tavern.

Katherine does come off like a spoiled princess but she sure knows how to play to the camera and she at least has a variety to her repertoire.

Taylor may be a nice guy but he looks like a bad Seinfeld episode when Elaine Benes tried to dance. I thought he was going into some kind of seisure last week during "try a little tenderness" He is the kind of guy I would enjoy hearing at a club or restaurant with live entertainment but I don't think he has what it takes to make a hit record.

Just my opinion...since you asked. :-)

Psychomom-

Taylor combines elements of Elaine and Kramer to me.

But I think he will win because of the rural and southern vote. Look how long "Bucky" stuck around, and he was dreadfully bad.

Californians and coastal-types don't get into the hokey, local pride, vote for a reality show star type of thing, so I expect Katherine will fall short by 20,000-40,000 votes.

Taylor probably will sell the least amount of cds of any of the American Idol winners, due to his style and sound. Probably will do a lot of A.C. and Las Vegas shows though, and sell-out southern and midwest small and medium-sized venues.

That "soul patrol" shtick is a bit much for a grey-haired white guy, too.

FVF:
Get life! I see you all over this board. 546, mostly negative posts, in about the 5 1/2 weeks since you first signed on to MOL, April 16, 06. You must have a lot of time on your hands! BTW, I seem to remember, and I could be wrong, that you live in Millburn. So why are you here on MOL?

There are people on MOL who don't live in Maplewood...I for one am one. I grew up in Maplewood, went to school there and still live in the area...I like to see what's going on in my old town so I enjoy this site very much.

All are welcome as long as you play nice :-)
