Last night at around 11:20, walking through from the 1 to the E with some friends, we were redirected to walk a different way to the E train, as the walkway was blocked off. When we got to the other side, we saw why. Someone had died in the middle of the walk way... had the white sheet over him and people leaning over him kept lifting it up and checking stuff, and ... I don't know, we all just wanted to know what happened. It shocked all of us. Even a friend who had lived in NY all her life said she's never seen anything like it. I haven't heard anything about it in the news, anyone have any suggestions of where I might get info? I'm not usually one of the people to stop along the interstate and stare at the accident, but this was different. Thanks! |

You can try www.ny1.com, but I saw something similar once, and the only way i could find anything out was by swinging back by the subway station a few days later and talking to someone in the booth. |

Yeah I tried ny1... the booth is a good idea, though most booths are going out of business - but I'm sure I can find some personnel. If not, I tried. Thanks papayagirl. |

I had a similar disturbing experience in Grand Central about 9 months ago. Though not sure if the guy was dead or not. He did have blood gushing out his head and was being attended to by cops and paramedics. I was surpsied no one was blocking off the side entrance by which this was happening because it was REALLY gruesome. I think the most gruesome thing I've ever seen in person. On my way out, I advised a family with young kids to find another entrance. But I wondered why one of the cops wasn't heading that way to do that. Have you thought about calling the police district office in which it happened? Although they might not give you info unless you are a family member or witness to a crime. Maybe one of the NY bloggers? People blog about the most obscure things. |

You can try the NYC Medical Examiner's Office. The public information person is Ellen Borakove. |
