I can't believe it's 91 degrees at 6:15pm. What happened to Spring! I think I just heard thunder. Maybe things will cool off a bit. I hope so. Anyone break down and put the AC on? |

Hmmm I just called a friend who lives near Marshall School and she said she's outside and it's pouring there so she'll call me back. Doesn't make sense as I live about 1/4 mile away and it's sunny here. Maybe she just doesn't want to talk to me? |

Don't take it personally, there are thunderstorms in the area. And by "in the area" I mean, the Bronx and eastern Bergen County, according to the Weather Channel. And, no, I didn't break down and put on the AC today. Maybe tomorrow if it keeps up.

Yup. Living on the third floor of a three story house, with a long-haired dog who melted yesterday, the AC is on. |

Sorry about your dog. I remember how upset I was when my ice cream melted, I can't imagine a dog. |

Tom, it was gruesome. Nothing but a puddle of soggy fur, eyeballs, a tongue, and claws in the middle of the floor.

I put the A/C on last night for the first of what will be many times. My comfort zone is considerably lower than Glock's. Yes, it's Spring -- if you really want to discuss why it is so hot on a Spring evening, perhaps we should talk about global warming on the Political Soapbox thread. |

I'm fine in the heat as long as I'm outside. Inside, I get irritable.

Here comes my yearly soapbox: When it's hot like this, please check on your neighbors who may need help (elderly, small children, those with health conditions, check on pets, etc. While the heat is fun or merely an inconvenience for most healthy adults, there are those of us in this community for which the heat is a severe and real health risk. Signed, Your Heat Intolerant Neighbor (who has had the AC on since April!) |

You're so right Starletta about shcecking on those around us who may have health concerns. At least it's now 77 degrees. But it's still humid. |

we had it off all day, but turned it on in the bedroom for a good night's sleep. Definitely wouldn't have slept without it! I must have missed the thunder storm last night.... |

we've actually been pretty lucky..this is the first spring in awhile that has seemed spring-like...not too cool or too hot, some rain, some clouds, some sun. In recent springs past, it seems we've gone that winter directly to summer route...in fact, this is the first (pre-Memorial Day) spring I can remember in the past 4 or 5 where we havent had an early unseasonable heatwave in April or May. In any event, I love it and will not put air conditioning on since we do not use them. |

Oops, I started a thread about A.C. in Virtual cafe. I had no idea people's feelings were strong enough on the topic to justify a Soapbox thread. I guess I've gotten my answer: Put in the damn units. J.B. |

I put off installing my units because it was supposed to cool off at night time....it didn't and there I was putting in my Window units at 10 PM last night. what a circus act. I HATE this weather. Methinks Central Air is coming to my household in 2007 |

By 'permanently' do you mean the in-the-wall kind? I find that tempting (since you have full use of your windows when you want) but always wondered how much of a hassle it would be when the units finally died. Did he do it himself? |

Nope, nope. The In-the-window kind sealed off with plexiglass and foam insulation. He did two or three by himself but the other 2 (out of a total of 5) were done with the help of our next door neighbour, who did that in his house, thus giving us the idea. |
