My line of questioning started on the Diversity thread, but I thought it deserves its own. So, why is Tuscan a sought after school? We heard it from Realtors but never understood why (we don't have children and I am not making judgments of any of the schools--just curious). |

Didn't this come up before? I have a kiddo ready to start at Tuscan next year and from what I understand it has great strengths, as do the other elementaries in Maplewood / South Orange. I also understand that simply saying something over and over again doesn't make it true. Effective, but not objective. Consider the source . . . realtors, politicians, advertisers . . . they're all salespeople. I don't think there's any more intrigue in the comment than that. |

Every school in MSO is "sought after". We were told that South Mountain was the "best" elementary school and that people were willing to "pay extra" to live in the SM district. I really don't think there's a great difference between the elementaries. We ended up sending our child to Seth boyden because we liked the school's vibe. |

When we were looking, every area had a "sought after" school, when we looked above our price range it was the "desireable Jefferson neighborhood" - it's Realtor-speak, not to worry. This is Maplewood -- the women are strong, the men are good looking and all of the children are above average.
