When I picked up my daughter from ASP at Clinton this afternoon, the kids were all abuzz about an incident that some kids may or may not have seen on the road near the playground. According to my daughter (who didn't witness this as she was indoors) some guys jumped a car and when the driver drove off (dislodging them), they shot at the windows of the car with guns. My daughter says at least a couple of kids ran back into the school building very excitedly telling this story. Anybody know if this is true?

Sure hope not. That's very frightening if it is. |

ok that's quite embellished from the 5pm version I got which was that there was a fight on the street. I asked one of the aides and he said it wasn't anything too serious - a fight on the street and another one of the aides called the police. I do think I will stop by the police station and ask about afternoon patrols around the school. I have noticed a lot of "hanging out" in the afternoon around the school. |

Ok, here's my son's account of incident which he saw: There was a car that pulled up and stopped. Then a person ran out of the car while two other people chased him. One of them was holding a bag. He screamed, "Help!" One of the aides called the police right away. |

nan, I heard something about a bag, too. The kids speculated that it was a bag of money ... The gun etc was probably "telephone game" - my kid observed me type as I posted earlier and I had started to type that she had heard the story third or fourth hand. She said, "It was more like 19th or 20th hand!" Kids are as bad at gossiping and embellishing as most of us grownups ... But still, the story sounded alarming enough that I wanted to know if there were any reliable witnesses over the age of 10. Apparently, it was no big deal. Which is a relief.

I remember when I went to Clinton. One day everyone was talking about the 'biker gang fight' that was supposed to happen after school. I even remember one of the gangs was called "The Avenues." Looking back as an adult I wouldn't give much credibility to the stories kids come home with. |

Driving back from Foodtown I noticed the block between Parker and Irvington Ave on Boyden was closed with half a dozen police cars, possibly surrounding someone, lights blazing. This was about 6:25. Anyone know what was up with that? |

Clinton ASP staff told us there was fist fight just beyond the playground fence. (Two cars stop, guys leap out and start fighting.) Kids were hustled inside, and the police were called. If anything more happened, the kids did not witness it. |

not every sunday..just during the big county meets. Plus I lived in Detroit where I heard them regularly. There were no shots last night anywhere near me. My radar would have gone off. |

The kids were thrilled. Their best day yet at ASP.
