http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/64912.htm And it leaves some questions. How did the victim's mother in Russia happen to have a saliva sample of the victim?

if he sent her a letter, can't they get the sample from the envelope he licked? (I don't watch enough CSI to know for sure...) |

In every article about this case the reporter has problems explaining what was found where. This was the worst one yet. In the headline, the poor man's limbs are in Newark. Toward the end of the article, they are at an intersection in Maplewood. Earlier on in the story they are--bingo--in the reservation. Why can't they stay in one place? |

DITTO! You can't expect much from the rag (NY Post) A man whose body parts were found in a Newark park” “ An Essex County sheriff's officer made the grisly discovery while on patrol in the South Mountain Reservation, which spans Maplewood, Millburn, South Orange and West Orange.” “ Alekseyeva's arms and legs, which had been strewn in four trash bags near an intersection in Maplewood ”

These are not necessarily contradictory. Look at a Hagstrom map of Essex County. The reservation is in Maplewood, Millburn, and West Orange. It is NOT in South Orange. When you cross into the reservation from South Orange Avenue, you are in Maplewood! If the intersection were in the Maplewood section of the reservation, then those two paragraphs don't contradict each other.

Tom: I think they are talking about a saliva sample from the mother. That was my take on it. |

Ok, but how do you explain the "Newark park" statement? |

I would much rather they associate this crime with Newark than they do with Maplewood or South Orange, so I am glad for the mistake. On a much more relevant note, what a sad and horrible way to have your life ended. For the sake of his family, I am glad they have some closure, but what an awful thing to have to contemplate about your loved one. |

BTW… the actual crime (murder) was not committed in NJ. The body parts were DUMPED in the SM reservation. Seems that this is a favorite place for the Russian mob in disposing of body parts. The body parts of a missing Russian boxer was buried in the backyard of a home in Livingston not long ago, however as the others the murders was committed in Brooklyn. |
