Case, is that the one where the people come off spacecrafts in the beginning of the 1800's and doctor all the history books to say otherwise after they erase our minds and fill them with false memories?

Actually, that does sound like something he would say. Probably right after he said something like, "I don't believe that evolution happened. I call BS on that."

Scalia - if that was my daughter/wife/mother...I'd say "you should've found a -ing parking spot."

As far as Brett's story goes, to quote Gwen Stefani:

That is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Brett:

I think you were wrong to throw the banana at the person who parked behind you. Strange as this might sound, she could have been seriously hurt. You say this occurred at 6 AM and the other driver went into the store you had just left. Couldn't you have just waited a few minutes if necessary for her to come out of the store?

I don't think this would have been a mitigating factor but could you please answer the earlier question as to whether the other driver was parked in a legal space. Perhaps if you had left more space between your car and the car (or other obstruction) in front of you, the problem could have been avoided.

Hope you don't mind if I hijack for a moment, Brett:

This afternoon I stopped at the deli near my office for some egg salad. They only have the egg salad behind the counter, as opposed to the germ-fest of a salad bar, that's why I get it.

I'm walking past the salad bar and I see a lady pick up, then put down, then pick up another cherry tomato and pop it in her mouth.

You are gross! I said.

What? I ate it, she replid.

Not the one you put back. You're gross.

Who the hell do these narcissists think they are??

Back to Brett's banana.

At 6AM she couldn't park without blocking someone in? Or just too lazy to walk a few extra steps?

just too lazy to walk a few extra steps.......

I was parked completely legal, and there were open spots about 20 yards away.

“Couldn't you have just waited a few minutes if necessary for her to come out of the store?”

NO, Jesus what would make a person think that blocking someone in because you’re to lazy to walk is reasonable and that I should wait? I’m at the store at 6am, obviously I’m going somewhere. I’ll admit throwing the banana is wrong, but not nearly as wrong as this woman was.

And people please, it wasn’t a fast ball. I tossed a banana, the only way she could have been hurt was if she got hit, turned around, and got hit by a car.

Last night, after a few martinis, Hello Dolly, and a few more martinis I confessed to my fiancé. I told her all about banana-gate. We proceeded to gather up a few bananas and found a nice wall outside to demonstrate my Produce Power. After ½ of an hour and a LOT of laughs, the case was proved that hurling a banana hard enough to hurt someone is not reasonable. Spanking someone with a banana is also not reasonable (poor neighbors). So I now have an expert witness that will attest to the non lethal nature of my attack. She will also attest to the fact that I can not “Just wing it” when making a banana daiquiri.

I leave you with Banana Phone: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/badgerphone.php

I'm saying that it is not all right to express your frustration by hurling a fruit at someone's head. There are other ways of dealing with day to day frustrations that are less likely to escalate in level of violence.

Brett has stated that he was legally parked but he still hasn't indicated whether the vehicle parked incoveniently behind him was also parked legally. Even if she was parked illegally, I think Brett's reaction was inappropriate.

I think throwing anything at anyone in retaliation for an inconsiderate move is insane.

Illegal parking deserves a ticket, but throwing something at a person? That's assault and battery. Maybe the woman was distracted, maybe she'd just heard some horrible news that was distracting her, maybe she was just sleepy. Who knows?

What an awful way to treat anyone. Brett, if you'd known the woman and she parked illegally would you still have lobbed something at her head?

I had a friend in college who threw a squished-up pizza box (and missed) at a garbage guy who was making too much noise on a hung-over Saturday morning for his liking. He was suspended for the rest of the semester, and lost a scholarship or two or three.

Back in college my husband threw a few McD's cheeseburgers at this guy's car. He removed the top bun so they stuck. Boy, was that guy mad.

If someone's done you wrong, it's fine to throw food at them.

We're dealing in the Virtual World. In the Real World, most of us would have simply fumed until the fair maiden returned back to her car with nary a word mentioned and resort to casting a pox upon her from afar...

And, then, she would continue to live in her "me first" little world...

Sheesh - maybe the woman was hearing-impaired, or deaf - or maybe she is selfish. Sort of reminds me of Bush's mocking the blind reporter for wearing sunglasses.

Your average pre-schooler understands that throwing things at others earns a time-out - and frustration is no excuse.

I doubt Brett would have thrown the fruit at a man, or thrown anything if the woman was walking with a man.

This is ridiculous. We have all been the victim of some inconsiderate driver, who makes us want to curse, stamp our feet, and yes, possibly throw a banana. But to actually do it? What is this guy, 6 years old? My real 6-year-old even knows better than that. Not only do I doubt he would have done it if the offending driver had been male or with a male, but would he have done it in front of his kids? Is this the lesson he wants to teach his kids -- that it's OK to throw things at rude people?! If someone threw a banana at me, even if I had been wrong, I would call the police. Seriously. This may be "harmless" and even deserved in many people's opinions, but it is a form of assault. Where do you draw the line? Will it not be a banana next time, but a rock? Would he have done it if the offender was a 70-year-old woman? What about a mother with a baby? Would she have had a banana thrown at her too? What if the banana hit the baby? Does anyone besides me see how offensive and stupid this whole thing is? Bottom line, Brett was wrong. Frankly if anyone did this to me, even if I was parking in the wrong place, I'd call 911 immediately and report it as an assault.

“I doubt Brett would have thrown the fruit at a man, or thrown anything if the woman was walking with a man. “

You’re wrong, I don’t make decisions based on Man, Woman, old, young, black white, pussy MOL tree hugger, or body builder. I would have had the same reaction with anyone who tried to be an a**hole and push others around for their own personal laziness. And to be honest, had it been a man, the chance of having a altercation is LOT more possible.

Brett, you behaved irrationally and assaulted a woman.

How do you know the woman was an a-hole? You don't even know if she heard you when you spoke. Even if she was intentionally rude, you were really, really rude. 2 rudes don't make a right.

Like Zoesky, if you'd thrown anything at me, or I'd witnessed it, I would have called the police.

The police would have arrested you, you'd have had to hire a lawyer, and appear in court. The woman could likely get a restraining order against you too.
