I posted this elsewhere, but Soapbox just beckons for "why" questions these days: What purpose is going to be served by the chalk lines (and grooves in the pavement) that go perpendicular to the traffic flow on the newly paved secions of Valley Street?? They're way too close to each other to be crosswalks, and even the ones that are parallel seem strange if they're going to be traffic or bicycle lane markers...can anyone shed light on this for the curious and ignorant among us?? |

Don't they habitually wait until a roadway's freshly paved before cutting into the new asphalt to do utility work? |

Some might tell you that the narrow lanes on the right are to keep the traffic single lane and to make way for bicyclists. But the truth is, as some previously hinted, they are lanes reserved for our growing interplanetary alien population whose vehicles are much smaller than ours, more energy efficient, and easily fit within smaller lanes. |
