News alert from CNN: Fire officials say an explosion and fire has caused a three-story building to collapse between Park and Madison avenues in New York City. There are reports of people trapped in the building.

If anyone is like me and has a spouse working in the vicinity, here is the address...located on 62nd Street between Park and Madison avenues.
(Of course I haven't heard from mine and have a pit in my stomach.)

Don't forget, VIG, the cellphone lines get jammed during emergencies.

VIG - I work a couple of blocks down from the explosion on Madison and other than listening to the all sirens and seeing the smoke - I am unaffected -- I'm sure your hubby is fine. If you want me to do any checking for you, let me know.

Actually, more than anything I felt like a moron for not remembering where in the city he is. (Ends up he's nowhere near Madison and 62nd.) |

my brother's firehouse is five blocks away, so if he is on duty, he is there, but he responds to all sorts of bad incidents most every week, most that never make the news. |

Hey all:
I posted on the virtual caffee thread earlier. The building is a three story complex that houses a doctors office and a beauty salon. Con Edison was in the next building investigating a report of people smelling gas.
