I was jogging by Linden pl and Ridgewood ave 20 mins ago and saw a momma duck and 5 ducklings crossing the street. A second later 3 of the little ones fell in the sewer. I just called Maplewood and Milburn fire depts. to see if anything can be done..In any case, both are taking a look since that area seems to be on border of both towns...The ducks were ok in the sewer on top of a bunch of leaves. Momma was going crazy...Help save the ducks!!!!

I am here to help too! If you lay down and angle yourself the right way you can get your arm pretty much down to the bottom. Let me know if you still need help.

My mistake. Linden pl is between wyoming and ridgewood but not on ridgewood itself. It's one block over. In any case I went by again and the ducks are gone. Looks as if they were removed. A happy ending!

Thanks to I assume the fine work of either the Maplewood or Millburn Fire Depts!

Save your sweat. He's pulling your leg. There is no Linden Place.

Can you even picture Strawberry jogging, much less calling two police departments to help a duck?

And this is soapbox, not please help.

The above poster is a troll so ignore his/her nonsense. Thanks again for all those concerned. It's nice to know people care.

For the record I run 15 miles a week. Running is my religion. If I had more time I'd run more.

He's probably talking about Linden St., which runs from Sagamore to Myrtle. Glad to hear all is well.

The same thing happened in Mplwd (ducklings fell down a sewer grate while momma was quacking away) 4th of July wknd. I heard the story through a friend so I cannot say where it was exactly, but the Mplwd FD came to the rescue in getting the grate off. I wonder if it was the same duck family?

When I was little I wanted to be a duck. We had three ducks. My sister took the first one and made it swim in the sink with AJAX (to look like lake water). She held its head under so it could "catch fish". Guess what? It didn't catch any fish.

The second duck got carried around the house by its neck by me (I was 3 or 4). I wouldn't let go and the sitter grabbed it by its feet and we had a tug of war. Guess what? His neck broke.

The third duck got donated to the CHildren's Zoo before its untimely death. Guess what? We visited it every Sunday.
