Does anyone know why there was an NBC News truck at the Maplewood pool yesterday? Was someone caught eating ice cream on the upper deck? Did a kid run, not walk? Was there a 17 year old in the adult swim?

Probably some woman was breast feeding her baby. :-)

If I had to guess it probably had something to do with the concession stand, which would be a nice change for Maplewood usually only making the news for negative reasons.

On the news there was an item about the heat (what else) and people cooling off in pools. I thought it was a bit odd, because the guy made a point of saying that he was in Maplewood, but all of the visuals were of the streets in Newark, and the Maplewood pool wasn't mentioned--unless I missed something. Maybe the NBC news team just wanted to go for a swim?

The pool and grounds looked beautiful and certainly made it look like Maplewood was an oasis in the vile heat very close to Newark. I was proud to live here and I don't even use the pool.
