Lately, we heard about Dr. BOOM blowing up his home so his wife would not profit. Now this? Husband Accused Of Blinding Wife In Eye With Carrot MONROE, Conn. -- A 46-year-old Connecticut man is accused of assaulting his wife with a carrot, causing her to lose sight in one eye. Roderick Vecsey is charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Pamela Vecsey, 46, underwent six hours of surgery after being hit in the left eye with the vegetable Saturday night, but doctors were not able to restore her vision, prosecutor Stephanie Damiani said. The couple was arguing when Roderick Vecsey tossed the carrot, Damiani said. Roderick Vecsey told Judge Patrick Carroll that it was a terrible accident, and was advised to remain silent. The judge set a hearing for Thursday. Vecsey is currently free after posting $500 bond. Husband Accused Of Trying To Torch Wife FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A 34-year-old woman told police she woke up early Saturday to find that her estranged husband had just doused her with gasoline and was trying to ignite a lighter. Humera Qureshi had recently filed for divorce from her husband, Zahid Qureshi. He now faces attempted murder charges. Zahid Qureshi had taken a garbage pail of gasoline into the bedroom and poured it on his wife, police detective Capt. Robert Comers said. He then flicked a long lighter, typically used to light a grill, over his wife, according to the police report. "As far as I know, the lighter was not lit, but it was ready to be lit," Comers said. "If he had done that, the house could have caught on fire, and he could have killed the kids, too." The couple's four children, who range in age from 4 to 14, were asleep at the time of the attack, but were awakened by the smell of the gas, he said .After talking her husband out of setting her on fire, Humera Qureshi was treated at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport for irritation caused by the gasoline. Zahid Qureshi, 35, appeared in court Monday and was ordered held on a $500,000 bond. ********************* Is there some kind of hormonal disfunction going on with these hubbys?

I think it's a tri-state area thing. You got Dr. Boom in NYC, the other 2 in Conn. and Brett, right here in Maplewood! Ughh! I remember the wood chipper incident. Wasn't that guy a cop? |

Phenix, you're really obsessing about Brett. I don't believe the person Brett threw the banana at was his wife. |

Do you know she was some one's wife? I'd guess a woman of marrying age, out by herself in the morning, would not be married. What husband would give his wife permission to be out alone like that? |

Oh my God-- I'm from Monroe, CT. It's a small town in the middle of nowhere. I remember some angry corn beatings and drive by snap pea shootings, but never carrots. |

I thought this only happened in the south, where everyone is a hick. Goes to show ya. Hmmmmmmmm. We should let the Maplewood police know that they should be on the lookout for such atrocities. |

What husband would give his wife permission to be out alone like that? One who lets her go to work. Heathens. |

The woodchipper killer was an airline pilot. He lived in Newtown (town next to Monroe, CT.) and- sorry for this- mulched his wife and scattered the pieces over Lake Zoar. The first clue that something was amiss was when the rental agency for the chipper reported that he returned the chipper completely clean and hosed down- something no honest man would ever do. When I told my CT friends and family that I was moving to NJ, they thought I was crazy to be so close to so much crime. Go figure. |
