My kids just LOVE this show. My oldest could watch it all day. Do you think there's any danger in a kid watching a show with lots of horrific acting, utterly ridiculous and unbelievable characters, and idiotic, improbable, utterly predictable plot lines? |

Sounds like most of the network shows currently appearing in Prime Time.

Probably. Thank God our kids were just before the Power Rangers appeared. They were addicted, especially our son, to Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters. Oddly, both of those shows were pretty well done. There were a lot of wisecracks that went over the kids' heads, but were appreciated by the parents. I can't believe why the Power Rangers have been so popular for so long. Most of these kids shows have a four or five year lifespan. |

I never did much care for Power Rangers. Sponge Bob K, on the other hand, kind of grows on you. |

My kids love the show back-in-the-day! They even had their favorite Power Ranger costumes. Now that they're older, its like we watched that?" I remember suffering through the movie version when they begged to see it. YIKES! Glad those days are OVA! |

Nahh....That would describe Bugs Bunny, Underdog, Bullwinkle & Rocky, etc. which I watched and I turned out pretty much ok. |

with all due respect LilLB, there is no comparison between Power Rangers and Bugs Bunny, Underdog and Rocky & Bullwinkle...there was a dual target market in those cartoons and a good deal of wit and subversiveness (at least with Bugs and R&B). And...when they came out, they werent marketing tools to sell action figures, toys, costumes, and assorted other crap. Plus, there was great music. Not that watching the shows kids watch today will alter them, but my kids also love Bugs and Bullwinkle. You are probably a better person today for watching Bugs and Bullwinkle. Maybe the kids today need these guys to add a little balance ...

I'll agree Sponge Bob ain't half bad and even kind of funny. My favorite: Jimmy Neutron. Biggest message: being really smart can be really cool. I love the fact that Jimmy's always got some creative invention for any situation. And I totally love his sidekicks, particularly pudgie little Karl! And there's a lot of that humor directed at adults that kids just don't get that Bob K mentioned. I also agree with Hank Zona that those other cartoons (and I think the fact that they are cartoons rather than live action makes a huge difference too) are not nearly as inane as Power Rangers. Power Rangers just makes me want to put my foot through the T.V. screen! |

Oh - I don't think Power Rangers can be compared with those shows in terms of quality, but they fit the description is all..

The original power rangers was ok. But now with the release of power rangers in space-time-turbo-neo-zeo-hyper team-force-crew...its a little out of hand |

"and which character do you see yourself most like...Mr. Know It All, Dudley Do-Right, Mr. Peabody? Any others?" Hank, I see myself as a cross between Rocky, Mr Know It All and Nell's horse who just happens to be named "Horse" By the way a certain MOL poster is the spitting image of Snidely Whiplash |

Wasn't the original Power Rangers just assembled from archival footage of a Japanese tv show? Were there really *that* many episodes or have they finally started filming new stuff to keep it going for so long? I grew up in the 80s, when all the cool cartoons were essentially commercials for the corresponding toy-line: Transformers, GI Joe, Voltron, He-Man, Thundercats. Probably why I'm such a fan of Robot Chicken today... |

The thing I don't get is the staying power of Power Rangers. A lot of clever kids shows (I am not claiming they were educational, just fun) came and went in a few years, but the Rangers continue on and on and on... |

I remember about 10 years ago Marshall School banned Power Rangers role playing on the playground because too many kids were hitting and kicking each other by accident--which is certainly more contact that happens on the TV show where every punch and kick is so phony. |

All I remember is that the original Yellow power ranger was a totally hot girl - made the whole show worth watching. |
