I now barely know who that is (thanks Wikipedia). Since I only dropped off my under 17 year-old son at Clerks II last Saturday – and didn’t stay to watch - I have no idea if I should feel insulted or very insulted. I choose complimented on my wry, je ne sais quoi, sense of humor. And Hoops, very mature there. Acting like the poser I've always suspected you were.

OK, maybe tomorrow I will have the patience to read this thread. But just seeing Dave KOWTOW to the Mayor's wishes and ghettoize this thread by lofting it into the Soapbox is SO FREAKING SAD. Nice Dave. If it was meant as a big F.U. to me?. Well then I READ YOU LOUD AND CLEAR.

Secondly, I couldn't even bear to read Bajou's post. I got about five words in and I was just FLOORED by her call for me to be excommunicated from MOL. I swear it was just days ago that I read as she was so viciously attacked by another that she herself so dramatically and emphatically claimed that she wouldn't ever come back to MOL. Nice thanks for making me feel how you did Bajou. Without even reading your post I get the sense from her of what it must have felt like to not be wanted on MOL. How quickly it flips from being oh pity me I've been so attacked that I must flee MOL to BANISH HIM BANISH BANISH HIM. Suddenly I a feel just a little less sad for what happened to you last week darling. You are a true beauty Bajou thanks for showing me that glorious side of you.

Like I said, maybe I will be able to stomach your post tomorrow and see that if I just would have read your post completely, I would have seen that you didn't actually demand my dismissal. And to think, I actually thought you and I were fun sparring partners who enjoyed eachothers online presence. What a sucker I've been to think we were friends.

Alleygator, this thread was a little bit off the wall, and probably shouldn't be in the VC. While I asked for this to be moved, I had nothing to do with it actually be moved. I like to think we are friends even though we disagree. I have no hard feelings toward you.

OK, the last post seems very apologetic. I don't think I am wrong here, but tonight I ran (jogged) a 5K, had a few beers, and realized that it isn't worth it. I really don't feel like arguing about nothing. Alleygater, I have nothing against you. No hard feelings.

Perhaps you didnt read Daves post

Quote:

Due to the heinous nature of this thread, here it is in the Soapbox

Wendy - it was not you I was directing my comment at, in fact it was meant to be a humorous note in a thread that has turned nasty, in the hopes of lightening the mood. Given the contentious nature of the correstpondence that the two of us have had, and the fact that I am not trying to be in any way disrespectful towards you personally, I would not think to 'make fun' of something you said in a thread like this. The fact is I didnt notice you also used the word heinous until now, so I will consider it my own fault that you took my comment the wrong way.

Now if I only knew what you meant by poser, I would know how insulted I should feel. }

Wendy's post was meant to be humorous too.

This thread needs to die.

oh for cryin' out loud, who the f$sck cares, if he wasn't famous no one would have ever even heard about this, does it really make any difference in you life?

While I don't condone his actions, nor his comments or beliefs, I of course uphold his right to have and/or say them, just as I condone yours.

As I said before, who the heck really cares or is effected by this, except in your own little minds.

heard a good idea from a caller on Air America

Mel should write a nice $10 million check to the anti-defamation league and go away quietly for his rehab

I assume by "this" you mean Gibson's apparent anti-Semitic beliefs as evidenced by his rantings the other day.

A lot of people are affected by this Monster. If you don't get that, then try again. Think Hollywood, wide public access, you know. You can do it. Should you Monster rant about something I might find it funny or obnoxious. When someone like Mel does it and has access to a medium that affects people's viewpoints, well then a different story and I care then. Got it now?

What he said does not matter..it is said everyday by antisemites all over the world. But what does matter is how we respond to it.
If he had used the n word...the response would be just as strong, if not more so. And so it should be.

Oh- I understand, I also understand that people get to worked up over things that basically have no effect on them, unless of course you decide to let it.
You say

If these "peoples" let what is broadcast through the media effect them, then maybe someone should shoot them now and put them out of their sorry little lives, screw the media, use your brains and don't let what is broadcast have such a hold on your life, screw celebrity's thoughts, beliefs, etc., and dare I say it, screw people who hang on their every words and actions, aaaahhhhh just screw it....

Why should the ravings of a drunken actor get more attention in the media than a very sober Moslem shooting 6 Jewish women?
Cheers

Because he is a celebrity and by definition newsworthy.
The "sober" Moslem was facing charges for exposing himself in another town, may not have been a Moslem in that he may have converted to Christianity and all the women he shot were not Jewish, they just worked for Jewish organization. The one who was killed was born Lutheran and converted to Judaism.

And I'm not sure Mel got more press than the shooting.

Let's show Mel where it hurts. Don't go to see his next movie! Even though I doubt that there will be many studios that will want to deal with him. Frankly I think the guys is punished enough by having to live will all this hate inside him for the rest of his life. What a sorry existance when you consider the amount of good this guy could do if he had a little bitty brain and a soul.
