If you are going to make a right turn at a red light, which is perfectly legal, please make sure that a) you come to a full and complete stop when your light is red, b) there is no oncoming traffic as a result of the just-changed light, and c) if you fail to adhere to a & b, please make sure you don't do so in front of a cop at the intersection. You WILL get stopped and ticketed. So, to the driver who did this yesterday evening as I was crossing Valley on Oakland, aren't you glad you were in such a big fscking hurry? Was it worth me almost hitting you as you recklessly turned to "save" the extra 30 seconds? Was the ticket worth it? HA! |

Ess, Aren't people unbelievable? Adding to that, don't you just love the people who sit there and honk at you when you are going to turn right at a red light, but cannot do so yet because of oncoming traffic going through the green light? I hate driving because some people are so rude and only care about themselves. I am happy this other person did not cause you to get in an accident. |

TS's theory is that many drivers misunderstand the law. They think that RoR is mandatory and that they have right of way over oncoming traffic. Every once in awhile, there is justice. |

I was stopped at a red light and this guy on his cellphone in an expensive convertible and a shirt and tie, was LAYING ON HIS HORN, over and over again. I finally screamed out my window to go around me or leave me the BLEEP alone. And he got out of his car to give me an earful. When he came over to me he's holding his phone out (I guess he asked his caller to hold for him) and telling me turn my m.f.ing car and just screaming at me. I look at him and ask him to look over there. I point at the NO TURN ON RED sign and asked, "Are you going to pay for my ticket?" I couldn't believe HE STILL CONTINUED TO SCREAM AT ME!!! Luckily the light changed and I drove off. People! Oh here's the kicker. I tell TS the story and then I'm given the riot act. 'Cause, you know, the driver "might have had a gun and killed me." |

Yikes Alley - that's scary. Oh - and Ess - people don't stop at stop signs around here, you have some nerve thinking they should stop at red lights.

Alley gator what you do in that situation is swing your door open, hitting him as hard as you can....then proceed to make the turn. |

I also just love the non-stop-right-on-red when one is a pedestrian crossing with the right of way. Some "drivers" just honk as a warning as they're cutting into their mad turn. What?! |

I was at the light by Nero's a few weeks ago - I was stopped on Hobart Gap Rd. (going towards SH)in the right lane at a TOTALLY RED light. Some yahoo made a left hand turn on to S Liv. Ave (ON RED) and nearly hit a car going towards the mall. Said car had to swerve to avoid a FATAL accident. Yahoo had the nerve to slam on the horn as if he owned the road. No, I don't think he was a cop, and I am certain his wife wasn't in labor b/c St Barnabas was in the other direction. Oh, and here's a shocker...he was on his cell phone - NOT hands free!! Nice job, J@CK !!!! |

I think it's true that people don't understand the law. They don't know that a right turn on on red is allowed, unless a sign says otherwise, ONLY AFTER COMNG TO A COMPLETE STOP. It's ignorance, less than stupidity. ...ellipsis |

I like the nuts who blast their horn for you to make a right turn on red when there's a big sign that says "no turn on red". I refused to move once and one idiot followed me for a block, passed me on Prospect and then jammed on her brakes right in front of me just out of spite. The other fun one is when there is a pedestrian in a crosswalk who is crossing with the light, you are turning and the driver behind you honks and honks as you wait for the pedestrian to cross. I've even seen them swing out and around to turn in front of the car that is giving the pedestrian the right of way. Don't NJ drivers know that a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk who is crossing with the light has the right of way unless a traffic officer is controlling the intersection and instructs otherwise? Doesn't anyone read that driver's manual around here? |

I had one guy beeping his horn at me on Vauxhall and Springfield Avenue. I was turning left, and all the oncoming traffic was turning right. The guy behind me was shaking his fist and beeping at me to go....um oncoming traffic? |

No, people do not understand the law. Idiotic. Another favorite of mine is being honked at by the doofus behind me when he/she wants to make a right on red, but I am going straight (and there is no room to turn). Are people now expected to make a right on red, even when they do not need to turn? Argh. I usually don't take pleasure in others' misfortunes, but the thought of that jerk from yesterday getting a ticket still makes me giggle. Poetic justice, indeed. |

Driving home on Ridgewood tonight. A car in the other direction has her blinker to turn left. A PSE&G truck beeps at her, passes her across the double line, almost hitting me and speeds down Ridgewood. |

Drivers coming down Valley and turning right onto Tuscan often only come to a "rolling stop" before turning on the red. There have been many time where I was in the pedestrian walkway and drivers were clearly annoyed by my presence as they waited to turn right. Also, what's with people jumping the green light to turn left in front of oncoming traffic? |

Well then be quicker than them. I do both things...jump the green quite often and as many times as i can...jam the accelerator down when the light turns green to stop other people from doing it to me...hehehehehe |

I wrecked into a person like you once (my one and only ever car accident in 30 years). The cop called it a "no brainer", gave the guy a ticket. His insurance paid for my repair. I"m sure his rates went up as a result. hehehehehehehe |

When a guy honked at me for not turning when there was a no turn on red sign I turned back and waved, pretending he must know me. Then he made a motion for me to make the turn. He honked again, ESS, so when the light turned green I just sat there and made him go around me, then proceeded on my way. Don't give in to these impatient idiots. If they are in such a hurry they should leave for their appointments on time! Some are adolescents like Glock who will change their behaviors only after a serious accident occurs. When I was their age I thought I was invincible too. Eventually, they will cause the driving age to go up to 21. They have the highest rate of accidents even though reflexes at that age are the best. |

I like to just accelerate into the right turn, not even slowing for the red light. I even roll down the windows and scream out "NO BRAKES" as I do it and have a look of panic on my face. It really gets your adrenaline going, better than a double shot expresso latte from Starbucks... |

greenetree, I can't remember where, but in some states, RoR is required if you are turning and there is no traffic coming. It might have been Denver or Wyoming. Also, does anyone know if left on Red is permitted between two one way streets in NJ? |
