There's a McMansion going up around here and it has been in progress for about 6 months. The (unlighted) site isn't fully fenced and is wide open to the public as is the dumpster. It's dangerous there, esp since it's across the street from a park. I have seen kids prowling around. I feel sorry for the neighbors since the port-a-john smelled all summer -- I don't think they've had a replacement/empty one yet. But now the generators are blocking the sidewalk and the cords snake all over the place. It's getting darker earlier and it's really hard to walk around the block without tripping on the debris and the darn generator cords. I called the police and this is not their job. Whose job is it to make this a success? I've had it!! |

I would think it would be the Permit department over at town hall. Where is this construction site? I haven't noticed anything and I can't imagine where a McMansion site would fit around here! |

You should contact the town Construction Official (Maplewood) or equivalent (other municipality - ask at your town hall for contact information), describe conditions objectively as possible, and request an inspector be sent to the site if it sounds to the Construction Official as if one or more code violations exist. Requirements for dumpster location, fencing, and other conditions may vary from one town to the next. |
